Definitely going with Bioshock. Giving the game a second chance now, as I wasn't too impressed the first time I played it. It's starting to win me over.

The first Manhunt. Seriously, what the fuck? You're a death row inmate who has supposedly been executed, only you wake to find that some twisted fuck has kept you alive for his TV show and his own amusement. Then you go around brutally murdering other psychos in progressively darker and more twisted scenarios, all because this asshole has taken your family hostage and will kill them. Then when you perform particularly gruesome executions, the sick guy starts talking about how he gets off on it all. Seriously twisted, dark, and fucked up game. What made it even more so was that the gameplay was pretty solid, so you couldn't stop playing.

The Darkness. Even the name is...well...dark.

The environments, demons, enemies, weapons, attacks. All dark.

You don't get much darker than 2 eels (that grow out of your shoulders), using a black hole attack to suck in a number of New York gangsters, at night in a dark room.

the darkest game i ever played was D an obscure title from the early playstation days if you play through the game alone and in a dark room you just have to get creeped out

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
OR
The Chronicles of Riddick EFBB

Both of them made me physically sick at one point.

VTMB:
Planting cameras in a model's house and then being told that she killed herself because of what the cameras saw.
TCoREfBB:
Let's just say I hate anytime that someone dies in a humilating or disgusting manner, even if it's the big bad villan. Case in point: At the end they tie up the warden, dress him up like Riddick, and have his own guards gun him down as he tries to scream to them that he's not Riddick.

Dwarf Fortress.

Tell me that you're the orphan saving hero when you've got a nickname like "the Rumoured Disemboweler of Spikey Crocodiles".

Kotor 2. It's a really dark game; crime syndicates have taken over entire worlds, you are the only Jedi left, someone's hunting you, and also, Mandalorian Wars.

Obscure.

Honestly, the only way you feel safe in that game is by accidentally on purpose getting a companion killed. It is just so creepy. Well, it was 4 years ago anyway, when I last played it.

Bioshock? Alice? Amateurs. Pathologic, now that is fucking dark. Every quest is hopeless, everyone is lying to you, the only people actually capable of doing something (note that this category does not include you) are far more concerned with their own petty affairs to waste their time preventing their fellow man from dying in droves.

It gets worse. Stop the corrupt meat baron from peddling the diseased meat that he knows will taint anyone who consumes it and what do you get? Betrayal, imprisonment, and torture.

Hell, it's Russian. That should tell you all you need to know.

How about The Darkness? =P
I know it's all deep and emo and stuff at points but I did find the dark side of myself while playing that game continually beating unsuspecting police agents down with the Crawling Dark devouring hears heh heh. ^_^

Ok I looked up this game and its looking like one I should definatly be checking out. What sort of game is it though? Action/Adventure? It was hard to figure out from trailers and the website

What platform is "Alice" on? I've never heard of that game.
Alice came out on PC around 8 years ago

Are you just confused or is there something im missing in that game? It doesnt even look like it has dark (as in brightness) settings

Also going to have to look into: Baroque and Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.

As an extra mention Bioshock and Fallout have come up a lot. Although they had dark motives I never found them perticually dark like Alice, The path, Eternal darkness, going to hell in 'the darkness'. I dont know what it was but they never focused enough on the twistedness of their settings like the others
