OK i'm doing this what is with almost everyone liking Skyrim but i just don't get it. Not saying that it will be a bad game but really can some one give me a reason why it will be so good?

And no the reason "Because it's Skyrim" or "Because it's an Elder Scrolls game" will not count i want a real reason to buy this game because it looking very bad to me right now mainly because why people are so praising of it 3 months before it comes out.
Why doesnt it count? I loved Oblivion and have been waiting for a sequel for 5 years. Im friggin excited for this game, so yes, because its an Elder Scrolls game. Its a perfectly legit reason.

3. The leveling system will be revamped from Oblivion's maddeningly linear scaling with the player character (one of my biggest complaints about that game). Now you should expect a mix of easy and difficult enemies to face.
dont know if you know but there are all sorts of mods to fix stuff like that now =P ive been playing again since i cant wait for skyrim lol

Over 300 hours of gameplay, dynamic events and basically the right to do what ever you want in the game. And you think there's something to be added? Do it! Mod the game almost endlessly and even use the creation tool to create a brand new game (if you have the skill). Play Oblivion or Morrowind if you haven't already. Then you'll see why.

OMG DID YOU SEE THAT WOAH HE WAS LIKE...... *me gusta* I am so glad this will be downloaded like 3 days before....I cannot wait for 11.11.11 lol

I second this thread, I don't see the appeal of any of TES games having played morrowind and Oblivion, they play terribly, can be beaten as easily as a badger is beaten by a truck, terrible graphics and pretty woeful voice acting (though I don't think that last one is bethesda's fault) and are just generally boring. I can't understand how they make fallout and TES when FO is so good.

You get a massive, beautiful and detailed world to yourself and you can do what you want with it.

Seriously? This thread is unnecessary and stupid. Alright, you dont like Skyrim. Fine. I dont like Zelda. Am I going to make a thread about it? I dont like COD 4. Am I going to make a thread about it? I dont like all those indie games. Am I going to make a thread about it?

You dont like The Elder Scrolls. Fine. But we dont care.
I don't think he said that he doesn't like The Elder Scrolls, he just doesn't understand all the hype behind it.

OP: Pretty much what everyone here has already said, it's a bigass fantasy world that you can basically make your playground. I personally prefer more narrative based RPGs like the kind that BioWare makes, but a lot of people like this kind of RPG, and I won't deny that it has some great things going for it.

Oh yeah, but I have a laptop now that hates running Oblivion. I gave up after various issues, from stuttering framerate and weird pixel ghosts to flat-out crashes.

I'll probably give it another go when I get a better computer. For now though I'm content with a heavily modded Morrowind (I prefer that game over Oblivion anyway).

You could ask the same thing about any highly-anticipated thing, and the question would still be just as retarded.

People like stuff, end of story.

'70 voice actors'
YES!
YEES!
Oblivion had, what about 4?
Exactly 17. And considering how many races there are, times 2 for genders, then adding the major characters... that's just sad.

So 70 sounds very appealing. Hopefully they'll have more than one guard voice this time.

I kind of hope they keep the 'STOP YOU VIOLATED THE LAW' thing, just to troll everyone.

I'm really looking forward to Skyrim. I didn't play TES before Morrowind, but played Morrowind and Oblivion both absolutely to death. The world is immersive, the characters relatively believable...moreso in morrowind, but...and the simple option to do whatever you want makes it a brilliant series for me. I became a fan just about the instant I started playing Morrowind.
Skyrim looks gorgeous, huge, immersive, and interesting. And as far as appealing to new gamers is concerned, a friend of mine has never once played an Elder Scrolls game and is excited for Skyrim because it looks neat.
And yes, dragons. That too. Considering it's the one fantasy RPG series to date that has had dragons as basically the ultimate teaser instead of actually giving you a chance to go one on one with one, it's interesting to the long time players because it's a new experience.
Plus, it's more elder scrolls; read the books in game(s), learn the lore, learn the history. It'll make you want more of it. That's what Skyrim is in a nutshell: More. More story, more lore, more history, more Cyrodiil, more everything.
Long time fans crave that, new fans attracted by the shiny graphics will learn to crave it.

No one can prove you if it's going to be good or not. You either like what you've seen so far, or don't.

I really enjoy RPG's apart from Oblivion and Fallout 3! I guess I must just not enjoy Bethesdas style. I know there are millions looking forward to Skyrim, but don't you think its odd that they are releasing it 3 days after modern warfare 3? Surely it would make sense to release it before the titan so that it gets more initial sales? Even if I was an Oblivion fan, I would be too busy getting my cod fix, to worry about anything else.

Skyrim is popular because it's interesting, which I think is related to its addition of more dynamic systems and realism and choices. It's the most sandboxy rpg game ever, thought that may change when Minecraft has the next update.

From what we've seen, Bethesda has changed several issues:
-Level up system
-Removing Classes

Bethesda has also added a lot of cool things, like:
-Setting a weapon in each hand, setting a weapon into one hand and magic in the other, setting magic on both hands, etc
-Dragons and their shout abilities

you say you won't accept "because its an elder scrolls game" as an argument but all you have to say is that "it looks very bad to you right now." pardon me but your statement is 1000 times more vague than "because its an elder scrolls game"

Because almost all previous Elder Scrolls games have consistently shown to be some of the best RPGs ever made (I say almost because I have not played them all). That reputation along with everything we know about the game so far, it should be little surprise that it's been hyped up as hell.

randomized Dragons with their randomized interactions like attacking a town, taking people while flying and dropping 'em, chewing anyone, and firebreath...

now add to this a bunch of locations, plus a shitload of quests, plus a flora+fauna, spellmaking/blacksmithing etc.

and future PC MODS ported 4 FREE to download on the CONSOLES !
