What is the hardest game you have ever played?

Commandos 3.
That game is insanely difficult in most of the missions. A lot of the time, it's not entirely clear what it wants you to do. I think in the beginning of one mission, they give you two dudes, and tell you to blow up all of the tanks with a couple of molotovs and a bazooka with a limited (and low) amount of ammo.

My friend stuck with it for 10 hours...got to, maybe, the sixth screen. Dude spends HOURS on this one screen, FINALLY beats it, then takes one step forward on the next screen and dies, forcing him to restart on the last screen. He literally got out of his chair and THREW IT against the wall. Since my temper is on par with his, I know better than to play it.

But sans that game, I'd have to say Call of Duty 2 on the hardest setting was a *****. The latest Shinobi game was fairly difficult.

Any of the NES Mega Man games make me mad and angry. More recently, I'd have to say Professional mode in Resident Evil 5. So...much...dying.

In recent times I'd say it was Ninja Gaiden II. It's testament to the quality of the game that I'm still playing it now, despite the frustration.

In past times, possibly Creatures 2 on C64. That was super difficult. 3 lives on a trial-and-error puzzler? Cummon!

I tend to give up if a games sets it's stall out as "super hard from the get go". It shows a lack of respect on the developers part if they choose not to make their games accessible.

I've probably played some monsters in the depths of evolutionary time.

The hardest I've played recently is probably Ikaruga or something though.

I've got all the Touhou games on my PC though, and will be getting my head around those at some point.

I want Cave to get their act together and release their Xbox games outside of Japan.

This is gonna get me laughed out of the place, but the two hardest games I've ever finished were Final Fantasy VII and A Link to the Past. Sue me.

As for hardest game I've played, I'd say probably Viewtiful Joe on the Gamecube. Nightmare.

Hmm, difficult to say really, Desperados was probably the game I died the most times in(Then again that was just how the game was made, extreamly unforgiving, but with a very quick qick load to compensate), Baldurs gate 2 is probably the most difficult RPG I have played though(and i mainly play rpgs).

I can't say I've ranked my games on hardest-to-easiest, but one that stands out in my mind as "hard" that I beat was Jak II. It wasn't OMGINSANEHARD, but it was a healthy challenge. I really appreciated the challenge, while it didn't punish you too hard for failure.
