What is the hardest game you have ever played?

I'm beginning to wonder if half of you people are saying Battletoads only because of the AVGN video....

Lot of the AVGN videos are him playing a game for 10 minutes.
As I kid I played the heck outa B-toads and it was ver Nintendhard.

But beatable, as well with Top Gun...

Hardest game to me was Total Recall, because it was amazingly stupid, difficult and you had no idea what to to...that and NES terminator was a pain.

Getting Gold licenses in Grand Torismo.... especially the frist one. The later titles were a bit easier. I have a love (to) hate relationship with Dodge vipers and Griffith 500's

Sadly if you can get the gold licenses, you turn into a 'that guy' that is so leet no one can play him. Argh! The injustise of it all

Hardest game I ever played was Wasteland... mostly because I was a young pup and given so much freedom I died a LOT.

I couldn't get past the first level on Flashback for the Megadrive.
That's probably because I was about 4 and only ever played Sonic, so I didn't know how to kill stuff if "Jump on their noggin" didn't work.
Then again, I tried Resident Evil 5 on Professional earlier and that's rocketing up the List of Tricky

Res evil nemisis was easy when you knew what was coming, and so very hard if you didn't and saved at just the wrong time or with the wrong gear. Doing those solo runs after you finished the game was a mix of fun and frustration too. I never managed to get Tofu

Anyone that has played Battletoads must put it as the hardest game they've played.

Sadly...I don't. Devil May Cry 3 on the hardest difficulty. Hardest one, where I didn't feel it was cheap though.

Here's the thing, DMC3 has difficulty settings. Battletoads does not and is tear-your-hair-out-insanity. The only reason I got very far in Battletoads was because I used a Game Genie to skip over levels. Still the most impossible game ever.

DMC3 on Hardest=Ninja Gaiden 2 on normal.

I feel everyone's pain on Battletoads.

More recent games would be either God of War II on Titan or Ninja Gaiden II on the max difficulty.

Even though they've already been mentioned: Ninja Gaiden Black, Ikaruga, and Mega Man 9. Oh, and the speed runs in Braid, if that counts. Damn!

ninja gaiden black on the harder difficulties becomes ridiculous. it's like instant death from virtually any hit. some of the missions outside of the main story mode are insanely hard too!
