How hard is that game compared to Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil?

In my opinion, fairly so. I can't beat level 5 on Normal in SA, but I can get to Remilia's final spell on Lunatic in EoSD, if that's any clue. Much denser bullets, plus Orin's zombie fairies just clusterbomb you. Apparently 12 is a bit worse, but I just seem to have more trouble with 11. Then again, I haven't played the official Touhou games for a while now so...

I felt that Need for Speed: Underground 1 was fairly challenging. At first it's easy but toward the end it really pushes your reflexes and ability to the limit. It's the only game that was hard yet satisfying for me.

It's hard for me to give a single answer to that question because it's hard to compare games I played at different age levels. I played a lot of NES games and some were brutal. Here's a few off the top of my head:

Battletoads
Bayou Billy
Anything Megaman
Ikaruga
Myst - as a kid, without using a guide. Never got past the mine carts. Not sure how I'd fare today.

MGS 1 on Extreme

You know, I never seen a video of someone beating all of MGS2 on Extreme mode. One hit kills makes every boss insane.

There is a pretty funny video of MGS3 speed run on Extreme mode where the Fear is beaten in a few seconds.

I found Spyro the eternal night frustrating by the fact that Spyro only takes 4 hits by a group of four enemies, and each enemy takes 20 hits or so to actually kill them. This might not be so bad, IF Spyro had immunity to being comboed. But he does not.

Another tough game is I wanna be the fangame.

Demon Soul's is gotta be up there. Other than that I can't really think of many, oh yeah, God Of War 2 on hardest difficulty is really hard.
I tend to see games with hard levels rather than hard all round.
Just yesterday I was playing new Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii and my god Level 6-K was infuriating I almost rage quitted which I have never done before, I mean I have quit because it was too hard, but not in a rage, this one actually gave me rage.

The speech about how if every micron of his circuits was engraved with litanies of hate, it wouldn't be a billionth of his overall hate. THAT. That is how I feel about that damn game.

And now some poor bastards are going to say, "this guy seems angry, how bad could it be?" ...I can't think of a suitable phrase to express pained, maniacal laughter.

This game! The first boss was easy, but anything after that it was increasingly difficult. Plus, I played on a shoddy cartridge which would stop playing at random intervals.

Yah, God Tower will do that to you. Best to play the game with friends so you have someone to scream at.

God Tower is not so bad the first few levels. I was actually found the twist to level 3 enjoyable. But as you make you way up the tower or hit a secret puzzle room, you're going to find puzzles that will piss you off. One level actually doesn't let you type in the letters needed for the password, so you can guess the response one would make when trying to type it in and no letters appear.

Ys Seven on Nightmare. You take off like 7 hit points on bosses that have about 5000 HP. Oh and you only have about 120 Hp and they take off around 30 HP each hit. Add to that you have essentially NOTHING (no potions or revival potions) at the beginning of that game and you are required to have long ass boss fights and not get hit at all.

It took a lot out of me beating the FIRST boss.

LOL I didn't want to start again on hard because I got to far in the game. Now I have to make up for the insanely overpowered bosses by grinding off of low level monsters.

Probably Xbox Ninja Gaiden 2 because it kinda cheats, or any of my Touhou shooters. The most obvious answer would be I Wanna Be The Guy, but that game blatantly cheats so I don't know if I want to count it.

I've died more times on a Call Of Duty campaign on Easy than on Demons Souls, why do people find it SO hard?

I'm going with Challenges Of The Gods in GOW I. It took me 6 hours to beat the last challenge. I went and punched a wall in glory after I beat it.

Oh, and Mz Ruby in Sly Cooper, It may just be the PS3 remake...but that shit took me a fucking WEEK to beat.

I never to this day beat challenge 8 (I still remember the number too heh). Everytime it seems everything is dying down I get flashed by a gorgon and smashed immediately. And the last level on God of War 1 on the hardest difficulty is fucking impossible.
