The last one that did this isn't even out yet.

Deus Ex is going to be so, so sweet.

I'm one of those people whose game library traveled to now from 6 years ago, so the last game I bought recently that made me have a childish obsession was actually the Prince of Persia series, I loves me some parkour-time control and unique puzzles.

Alice: Madness Returns. I was excited when it was announced, and I was giggly and in awe all the way through the game, despite some of the obvious flaws. I still enjoyed it though. ^_^

I have a habit of buying games on release day (though not pre-ordering, I'm too pessimistic) and then not playing them for a month or more as I play through a bunch of older games and wait to get "in the right mood". I owned games like Mass Effect and Starcraft 2 for 3+ months before I started them.

But the last game I bought immediately and had to play right away was Metal Gear Solid 4. It was released during my university exams that year and I still had to play it right away. I ended up finishing the (20 hour) campaign in 4 days. I pretty much loved every second of it too.

Probably Fallout Vegas.
I bloody love the Fallout universe and when they announced it it was an unmitigated squeefest. I played it for like 3 days straight until my friends staged a skype intervention lol.

I'm excited for Batman Arkham City and Skyrim.

I'm actually really enjoying Assassins Creed 2 which I didn't think I would like but I'm having great fun with it. :)

I'm terrible for getting really excited about things, getting a new PC soon and I keep just madly grinning when I think about playing on it!!!

yay.

This still happens with most games I buy and I hope it stays that way for a bit longer. Obviously certain games such as Halo and COD shit don't interest me, but games that have done that lately for me would be L.A Noire, InFamous 2 and Alice.

I do it a lot so it's hard for me to remember what was the last game I acted that way for.

Alice huh? is that a nostalga thing?

personally I really like it so far, I mean I know its less than perfect, however I expected that when I got it so I wasnt dissapointed, I dont know why I really wanted it, its just a nice change from whats usually on offer thease days

When I was young it was pretty much every single game I had. Games are expensive and I had to save up my pennys and trade in old games to get them, so getting one was a real treat.

Now though I have the ability to make money and like you, Ando85, I have a massive backlog and getting a new game, while nice, really ain't anything special anymore.

God dammit, now I'm sad. :(

I don't know but something about the setting the game took place in excited me, ontop of that it was mostly a platformer, a genre which is nearly dead so it was kind of a must buy just to show "yeah people still like these!"

Did you ever play the original Alice game?

Minecraft. I play it, it gets boring, then I think of something cool I want to build, and I get all giddy again =P

actually no, never even heard of it, but this looked interesting, I thourght mabye if somone was that exited about it they may have played the original

aparently somone said on another thread that "American Mgee" the guy or people who made it said that basiclaly this game was really about fan-service and that he/they wanted to get back to making the next "angry birds" because core gaming was a dying buisness

which sounds kind of stupid

I turned into my six year old self when I played Mega Man 10.

Fun stuff. I felt like the adult in the Chex commercials who has the kid version of himself liking the cereal for one reason or another and the adult liking whatever half of the cereal he enjoyed, but with Mega Man.

I had a nostalgia burst of joy when I revived my old PS1 (the big gray brick of love) and put Bust A Move 2 in.
The first track on this video played (for the level with the weird purple octopus/ghost thing, which is the first level) and I squealed with happiness as all those old memories came back to me.

Boy that's a tough question. Mass Effect 2's the last one I remember being genuinely excited to start playing - as in, giddy with excitement. Before that? Goodness gracious, I can't remember, it was so long since I had felt genuinely thrilled about playing a game that wasn't Mass Effect. Uh..... probably.... Final Fantasy XII, which turned out to be a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, FFXII is a good game, but it failed to live up to FFX or FFIX. With FFX, I cared about the characters. With FFXII, the characters took a backseat to the overarching themes of rebellion and conquest and nation-states.

So, yeah, Mass Effect 2. I will say that I am extremely eager to get my hands on Bioshock Infinite.

Portal 2 and Mega Man 10, When I found out that a new Mega Man game was being released for the XBLA, i geeked out. Also, after playing the perfection that is the original Portal, I was super excited to find out that there was going to be a sequel with co-op mode and spent many hours deliberating over how it would work.

Persona 4. After playing and adoring Persona 3 I was giggling when 4 came in the post.
