For good reason. It almost as strong as the sniper rifle was in the first game.
That's because the pistol became the Battle Rifle, and the pistol became a weapon to be used in conjunction with a plasma rifle or Plasma pistol.

pretty much EVERY gun that I've encountered thus far in Fallout 3. If you can dump a clip of ammo into someone's chest and they can still fight, that's one helluvan underpowered weapon. Even moreso if you're dumping ammo into someone's HEAD.
Or when you go to use VATS and it tells you that there's a 95% chance to hit something but you end up firing into a wall.
Despite F3 being in realtime, damage, accuracy and health are all determined by numbers. Regardless of your ability to frag in call of duty, you're still bound by your Small/Big/Energy Weapons skill(s), as well as your guns condition, your movement, use of VATs, etc. It's not a FPS, it's a FPSRPG.
I understand all of that. So why is it when I go into Vats and I got a 95% chance on any body part I waste my entire clip into the little barrier that is waist high I am standing behind? If the barrier is actually in my way shouldn't I have a 0% chance in Vats?

Not necessarily. You should be more careful when you go into VATS though. There's got to be some difficulty.

Here is what I mean. I can shoot the enemy regularly no problem. I go into Vats from the same position and I shoot the wall 5 or 6 times. I can accept watching the bullets wizz by his ear in Vats since there is always a % chance to miss. There is where the difficulty lies. Shooting a wall 6 times when you have a 95% chance to hit (according to the game) is cheap not difficult.

Huh. I've honestly never encountered anything like that.

The revolver that a bloke standing next to me at the shooting range had blow apart in his hands, we found bits and pieces of it all over the place including a chunk in my back. Ho ho ho good times...
(Isn't misinterpretation great!)

BEST (usable) guns in Fallout 3... so this won't include the MIRV:

- Blackhawk [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Lincoln%27s_Repeater].

- Victory Rifle [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Victory_Rifle] - Natural 3x critical multiplier. Need I say more?

- The Terrible Shotgun [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/The_Terrible_Shotgun] - Imagine 80 damage at point blank range. Yeah, this does that.

The best gun? I'll let this article speak for itself: The Firelance [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Firelance]

Others have mentioned the A3-21, so I won't.

After watching RE: Degeneration and playing the RE5 demo a billion times, I had a hankering for some more Resident Evil goodness, so I whipped out my copy of Nemesis for the old PSX.

Playing without any of the infinite ammo weapon games is so frustrating... especially the M92F custom handgun (without the enhanced ammo) which is your basic starter weapon, and unfortunately the one for which you find the vast majority of ammo. It's not uncommon for plain old vanilla zombies to take 9 rounds to kill. Sure you could let them get closer to do more damage, or try to do head shots and reduce that to 3-4, but RE3 is notorious for bad tank controls and piss poor aiming... so I'm stuck with my crappy gun and precious little ammo for it.... RE4 really spoiled me.

Well, this was supposed to happen in Far Cry 2, but I drove up to some jerks who were ambushing one of my "buddies", I pulled out my shotgun, and said "Time to die motherfuckers!" *Click, Click Click* "Oh shit...". Stupid guns jam with incredibly poor timing in that game.

Allot of the guns in Halo are a little wonky but not totally broken. The double barrel has always seemed to work for me but I play on PS3. The only reason I dont like it becuase it only has two shots. The molitov has never worked for me so I now refuse to use it.

The P90 in CoD4. Close-quarters my ass. this thing fires off a clip faster then most guns can fire off 10 bullets, but you'll never need to use the whole clip, becuase it can drop anything in under 7-10 bullets. it's accurate up to half the level. the Noob's best friend, the P90. i'm sure it's been complained about.

Broken in the good way? R.Y.N.O. Series in R&C.

Broken in a bad way? Not specifically a weapon, but getting to close to an enemy in Valkyria Chronicles means your shots go through his head. Sucks.
How was the R.Y.N.O broken? Always worked great for me.

I'll agree with you there, the lightsabre in TFU was rubbish and more akin to a shiny baseball bat than its namesake.

You realise a 95% chance to hit also means there's a 5% chance to miss?
