Lord of the Rings: The Third Age... I bought it and I took it back the same day. At first I read about it being co-op somewhere (I had no internet access at the time to look it up). It was turn-based and had these weird characters..

Killzone 2 is my biggest let down of all time. Hyped up as one of the greatest games evaarrrr, and turns out to be American Marines invading a desert full of british Nazis under the pretense that they have WMDs (when we all know they just wanted the space oil...).

Other honourable mentions are Final Fantasy VII, Half Life and GTA IV. Maybe publishers should stop their hype machines so people like me aren't expecting so much...

Brawl.
Really good game but it is such a downgrade from Melee. All of the maps are the same, most of the charaters are just fan service and don't get their own attack shemes, and the controls are sluggish. The sluggishness is amplified by the Wiimote, which is why I play all games possible with a Gamecube controller.

The problem is that Nintendo jumped the shark and used motion sensing before the technology existed for it to be used well, instead of making sure it was accurate before making it the selling point of a console.

Never, ever believe in the hype. Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, GTAIV were all okay-good games but just didn't stand up to the hype given to them.

As for me I would have said X-Blades but I wasn't expecting much from it. A lot of games have been disappointing to be honest :(

I still regret paying the full price for Bioshock. Call me crazy, but it didn't amaze me much beyond the setting.

GTA IV, it just didn't hold a candle to GTA Vice City or San Andreas. It had unlikable characters, a boring game world with no variety, poor humour (liberal bashing gets old fast) and a tiny amount of content on the talk shows, unlike VC and SA.

Must resist urge to kill...
But seriously, i never understood why people were disappointed with half-life...

Anyway for me, it was supreme commander, stronghold 2 and last x-com(forgot the name)...

assassin's creed definitely, massive hype for an average game with great graphics. so what if you can climb every building, there are only nine missions or so which is just poor. on top of which they're all identical and over simplistic.

Fable 2. Bad plot, bad enemies, bad difficulty curve (it gets EASIER over time? WTF is that?), and TERRIBLE characters (except Garth).

Halo 1 and 2, both completely repetative.
Call of Duty: World at War, a complete let down for me.
Spore: got caught in the Hype
Heroes of the Pacific: was cheap, now i know why! lol

When I was little and I got the first Spyro the Dragon game not made for PS1. It was kind of scarring to see my childhood hero be figuratively raped like that....

Twilight Princess, but that's just because I'd more or less built up an idea in my head of how it should have been, and it was totally different. Not a bad game, but I was disappointed.

As much as I hate to see people say it, ^ this.

I never played Vice City but I played San Andreas for about 2 hours and I played number 3, and IV just doesn't stand up to the expectations they set. But it sold like a billion copies anyway
