Black Hawk Down. When I reformatted, figured I would reformat my hard drive with my games on it too because it was only games and I could just play them again. Well, an hour after whipping it out, I remembered that the 100+ levels I had made for Black Hawk Down were on there and I forgot about them. That was about 5 years of work down the drain.

I played Psychonauts avidly over a single weekend and pick it up on Monday to find a wonderful message:

"Your profile is damaged".

I'm not picking that up again for a long time.

My second profile in Oblivion has over 200 hours of play on it.
The first one has about 140.
That game was...amazingly addictive.

i save a lot to avoid losing data. if it's saving anywhere (like LoZ) i will save either every 20 minutes or so or after i get something new. if it's where there are save station i will save every time i pass one and will occasionally go to one just in case something happens. have occasionally lost data but only half hour or so

probably about 3 hours on Dead Space. I was doin well, then one of those tentacles came out of the wall and because it was pretty late I couldnt tap X fast enough and had to start back at least 1 chapter.

In my first proper FFVII play through, which was when I was like... 8-10, I spent well over 100 hours getting all the way up to the boss before the third disc (It took that long because I didn't know what I was doing half the time), and I got stuck. I started a new game, but kept my old one as I planned to go back and grind until I could beat the bastard. One day when I was saving my other game, I accidentally overwrote my original save.
100+ hours. POOF!

In a single sitting, probably Morrowind. First time I played it, I logged nearly 18 continuous hours of play time.

If you mean total time spent playing a game, BF1942. I've played that so many times, with so many mods, it's ridiculous. Probably over 1,500 hours sunk into BF1942. And another thousand to BF2.

Used to get it all the time in Mass Effect 1. There where times where there would be a good 3 hours between auto saves. It made me so parnoid about saving, but I still forgot ever now and then.

Luckily Mass Effect 2 saves ever time Shepherd so much as walks down some stairs, just in case he/she dies in the process.

Morrowind - 300+ hours on one character.

I don't, however, class that as time "lost" as I do "well spent"

I think I lost about ten to twelve hours or so once. I had been playing the the first Ninja Gaiden for X-box (I was playing on my 360 for the record) and had been keeping up a second back up save file. I got all the way to the twelfth or thirteenth level and accidentally double saved right before a mini-boss fight with a tiny sliver of health and no money to buy any health items. I couldn't get past the mini-boss or (if I did manage to beat it) the trap filled room behind it. Rather than start all over from the beginning I gave up and sold the game to a friend.

I put about 30-40 hours in Final Fantasy X, then my roommate moved away (it was his game and memory card).

Maybe 48 hours worth. My younger brother somehow deleted my FF7 file. I was in the last area and i had to go all the way back to disk one where i had just gotten out of Midgar.

Ocarina of Time. I swear half the time I didn't know what I was doing. Favourite game of all time that devoured my childhood... but I've never even gotten to the Spirit Temple. Shameful, I know. At least I can whizz up to the Water Temple.
That or MapleStory. Dang MMORPGs...

Either that or Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem after I got up to the level with the Italian architect and realised that I had missed a glyth thing I needed to pick up the previous level. There was no way of going back. So it was impossible to play any more.
You can miss essential items? I've never managed that. I missed a survey but you can go back and do them.
Miss the statues and you can't get the Enchanted Gladius for the final battle, and you can miss the Mantorok rune for beefed-up spell alignments... but neither are required.

I usually tend to save. But this one time while playing The Sims 2 on my computer, the electric went out and my computer shut off. This was yyeeaarrrsss ago though. Lol. Was playing it for about 4-5 hours straight and didn't save. xD

Easily Halo 3.

I still play it often, although that's more because all my friends have it, and that they are very closed minded.

If anyone can suggest a cheap, good, multiplayer game on the 360, I would be very grateful.

PS: no MW/MW2, and it can be pretty much any genre.
I suggest tf2, its a great game and I had alot of fun with it (tho I played it on comp so gl on 360 not like it ruins the gameplay)
I save often now because I can remember when my 360 froze up on Darksiders (twice) autosave corrupted on me once :(.
