I had Pong, but the earliest that I can recall was a coin-op before Pong: Shark Attack. You can even see the game (which was old at the time) in the movie Jaws.

Or a Grandstand TV game 2000, which I had in the late 70s/Early 80s as a cast-off from someone who'd upgraded to an Atari. I may have already had a ZX81 byt then, though, in which case whatever I played on that would be my first. I did have some games for it, but the only thing I can remember is chess, which I didn't actually play.

Yes, I am old. Get over it.

I own an original Magnavox Odyssey, which was released in 1972. I want to play the original SpaceWar! but can't get the time to go to the museum holding it.
Back when Media Works was awesome Simon and I bought one of those off ebay but the seller never gave it up.

So sad.

My grandparents have an honest to god pong machine though in their attic.
Oh shit son. If they wanna get rid of it, I'll take it :D

Sad that Simon never set it up. I can't because it runs off antanna and my TV doesn't have the hookup. I gotta go to Radio Shack and get a converter.

People, quit with the friggin' pong, alright?
Pong was old, we get it already. Yes it wins this competition, no we don't care.
Congratulations to everybody who's played it, especially the approixmately 7 people on this site who can claim to have played an actual original version, rather than a cheap-as-Vietnamese-dirt port they got from an emulator-site.
Huff, huff...
Sorry about that, had to get that off my chest.
Incidentally, my oldest game is Secret Agent for MS DOS, released in 1982.

Atari VCS 2600, not sure which game on that is the oldest but I've played a lot of them. I also played Vectrex at a friends house, though it wasn't the oldest system, it sure did seem like it haha.

original Pong for me. After that I started doing arcades and home gaming systems such as Atari, Coleco Vision, Intellivision, Odysee, etc... Then got into the Commodore 64, 128 and Amigas. After that I switched to Mac. Ive been playing in the arcade ever since the 70's and continue to do so. Ive also had the NES and Playstation 1,2,3.

PS: Sorry if that came of a little strongly, it's just that I feel that a game that's already been used two dozen times in one discussion doesn't need to be mentioned any more than absolutely nescessary.

We found this really old console up in the attic once which had like 3 games Pong, Tennis and Table tennis. My father had apparently got it more than ten years before I was born in 1984 it had two controller (if you can even call a box with a dial a controller) with which you moved the pong paddle up and down on the screen.

that is chronologically the oldest computer game I can remember ever playing.

Sounds like a 2600, correct me if I'm wrong.
Given it was purchased ten years before 1984 I doubt it was a 2600.

Could be any of these though:

Pong is probably the oldest game I've played (on Atari) but I think the oldest new release I've played was either "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" on a 640k no HDD PC with 5 1/4" floppies or Gyruss for C64.

A demo of Doom, or at least I think so. I'm not so savvy on how old the games I play are.

Pong (1972?) bitches! On the original two player console!

Or Monopoly (1930's?) depends if board games count.
