"I dig my hole, you build a wall..."

Bastion just hits all the right spots, without spelling anything out, the first time that came in, magic.

Al Mualim what are you doing? Hey, don't fuck with me now... AWWWWW SHIET!

Pretty much every asssassination mission in the first AC had me sitting at the end of my seat going: "GET AWAAAAAY GET THE FUCK AWAAAAAY FROM HERE!"
You are right, Abbas, the apple showed me many things, of the past, and of the future!

BOOM.

Revelations gave no opportunity to do anything assassin-y as Altair, but there was that...not deep, but damn cool.

Mine was a tabletop gaming moment when both my characters best friends were murdered.
They had been through so much together and I got pissed, I basically channelled my halfling rogues anger.
The murderer was a evil wizard who's plans we were standing in the way of.
So while fighting the wizard I ended up sacrificing my self by blowing both of us up and saving the rest of the party and the city he was trying to take over, so for my last words I screamed.
"Now die and regret all the evil deeds you have done and remember the faces of the two you murderer because that was your downfall!"

He died, I died but we screamed, cheered and hugged.
Now that was some deep stuff and for awhile, me and my character merged.

Deep moments? uh mainly from Journey as I spent maybe the last 3 levels with the same person pushing through sand and snow then completing the final one and standing triumphant, never truly knowing who he/she was and yet investing time and effort to make sure that we stayed together throughout it all, always keeping in sight and sound of each other.

Also the ending lines from Ezio in AC; Revelations was pretty cool, Deep but also just cool. Cannot wait till AC3.

Hmmm, probably the entirety of Bioshock. Rapture sits on the sea bed and that is VERY deep underwater.

I was really sucked into Metal Gear Solid 2 when Raiden received Olga's HF blade. It was one of those, "alright, time to fuck shit up" moments.
I found the HF Blade awkward, cos Snake would always kill them before I got there, the kill stealing bastard.

OT: Putting on my big boy pants and fighting two Pyramid Heads in Silent Hill 2. It's time for James to man up!

For me it has to be Force Unleashed or Prince of Persia.
Those games draw me in like crazy and I'm jumping around my room using my jedi powers or just being a really awesome prince jumping around killing people with some awesome moves never seen before.

The most immersive moment I had in gaming was answering to NPC's questions and comments in Half Life 2.
The most emotional moment I had in gaming was the ending of Metal Gear Solid 3. The only game that has made me cry.

Katawa Shoujo in its entirety. I know that sounds like a cop-out, but I've never been so emotionally affected by a game before, and I probably never will be again. It truly was an amazing experience.
There has only been two occasions I can remember that when after I finished something I just sat silent in my seat for like 5 minutes thinking, and taking in the emotions experienced. The first is the ending to Cowboy Bebop, and the other is the end of Hanako's story in Katawa Shoujo.

Edit: ... And the ending to MGS3, just remembered.

Yeh, I'm gonna go ahead and agree with everyone who said that part from Spec Ops: The Line. From various bits and pieces I read on the internet, I knew that there was something in the game that was supposed to stop you in your tracks and make you really think about what you do in games, but I had no idea what to expect. On my first playthrough I got to that bit and almost couldn't continue playing for a long time after the cutscene. The whole game from that point on had an entirely different feel, and I almost felt bad for feeling compelled to continue playing just to see how things turned out. By the time I got to the ending I didn't feel much better.

3´rd mission in Homeworld. after you had a look around you were committed to see the game through the end. for it was not a simple mission now. it was survival of everything you know

The bird-like Colossus from Shadow of the Colossus. Climbing over it's wings while it tries to shake you off while kick-ass music plays was a great moment.

And the Suicide Run in Mass Effect 2 made me unironically say Fuck Yeah at certain points.

One time when I was playing fallout 3 I found a distress call radio signal. I listened to it and found out it was from a guy who was held up in a drainage pipe with his family and that i was badly ill. So I decided to look for them so I could help them like. Eventually, I found the drainage pipe and inside it I found the skeletons of three people. Next to them I saw a ham radio that was playing on a loop. I felt saddened by the fact that they had probably been dead for a long time.To prevent other's from doing the same as I did I turned off the radio and continued on my journey.

- dont flame me for this but... the ending of mass effect 3. while poorly done, i clutched my head in a bout of utter confusion of the extrapolation of the decision to come, took me a good half hour to make a choice... i almost didn't want to.

- the start of dead island, when you just wake up up until you exit the hotel building.

- shadow of the colossus (nuf said)

- geth decision in Mass effect 2

For me it would be the end of MGS3. You sit there watching the scene after you ruthlessly beat your mentor, your mother figure, and in a way your lover. After telling her story to you, she hands you the patriot and you stand there pointing it at her. Only to realize that you actually have to pull the trigger. I sat there for minutes because i grew to have nothing but respect for the boss. Then the whole segment after that bravo Kojima bravo.

2 parts in Modern Warfare 2.

Russia invaded USA and during that mission when your fighting them in that neighborhood and inside one of the houses you find a stupid russian soldier in the fridge looking for something to eat, yeah I emptied my shotgun into the back of his head.

Russia launching the EMP and your left dodging falling helicopters.

MGS3 when you have too
pull the trigger on The Boss.
Even when I was younger and didn't really appreciate story and characters, that one hurt.

Edit. You know what screw it, while all the one's I listed are awesome, Metal Gear Solid 3 tops the lot.
I just registered an account here to comment on this post! I agree, my friend. I started gaming on a dedicated Pong console about 33 years ago, and the moment you just mentioned tops my list of jaw dropping moments in ANY fictional media EVER. It was a little bit different for me though,
because I relished shooting her. Every time she popped up throughout the game, I got a sick feeling in my stomach, cause she was about to screw me one way or the other. Whether she was setting me up for a long fight against one of her minions, or taking my weapons and leaving me for dead, I knew I was going to be doing some savegame reloading for a while. So I didn't hesitate to pull the trigger, and laughed in glee. I finally had my revenge! And then the big endgame exposition came. I never suspected it. I sat in front of the TV for 30 minutes, stunned. The entire game I'd been waiting to blow her away, and after I did it, I discovered I had just killed a selfless hero, who sacrificied all, for the greater good. And I had enjoyed it. Taught me a real life lesson... NEVER take things at face value.

The long walk in the corridor at the end of silent hill 2 - the game totally got me long before, but that particular moment was the first time i played a scene with such an intense emotional impact in a game. I felt so sorry for these two poor lovers.

Also playing Metro 2033 on Ranger Mode Hardcore was basically one long deep moment and Spec Ops was the last game that gave me several of these moments.
