My least favorite is 13. I could only play for a few hours before I just decided I hated it. Maybe it's because I've begun to hate random encounters, and maybe it's because I didn't like the gameplay or the characters, but I really couldn't stand that game. I may try playing it again, but I thought it was pretty awful.
Exact same for me, except for the giving it another shot part.

Favourite was Final Fantasy X. Why? Go take a look for yourself. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/326.166262]

Least favourite was VIII. Something about it just annoys me. It's not the emoness of Squall or anything like that, it just feels...awkward and clunky to me. :p

My favorite Final Fantasy would have to be IV, its story and smooth gameplay, and just all the cool stuff they did with it are what just kinda draw me back to it. I need to get The After Years so i know where they went with it.

My least favorite (and i know i'm gonna take heat for it) is gonna have to be VII. Don't get me wrong, the game's good, but with all the fanboyism about it (had at least ten friends freak on me for not saying it's the best FF EVAR -.-') and after playing through IV, V, and VI, It just kinda went the way of a meh to me.

Tactics is probably my favorite, if we're counting FF games outside the main series. It's the only Final Fantasy game that I would call truly perfect. Solid, interesting characters, an engaging plot, a deep, intuitive battle system, and a crazy amount of replayability. I have a few issues with the recent War of the Lions re-release, though, mainly the awful pseudo-Shakespearean dialog rewrite and the animation lag. I'll take the original Playstation version any day.

My least favorite is FFXIII. Simply put, it represents everything that's gone wrong with Square-Enix. It's a game that values style and flash over substance, less an actual game than a progression from overblown cutscene to overblown cutscene. Truly, a consummate disgrace.

My favorite is VI. I love the game for it's story (hey, the badguy WINS for a change!) and being the only video game to date to both actually make me HATE the villain (Gods DAMN you, Kefka...*fist shake*) and make me cry (not ashamed to admit it). Plus the characters are varied and enjoyable (and it's a very DARK game, too!).

My least favorite was VIII. While some of the characters were decent and the animations were great for the time, the story is confusing as hell and drips enough emo moping (thanks, Squall) to stain your carpet with mascara tears. Plus, it took a strange turn by making the encounters scale with player level. What the hell??

Am I the only person on earth who like FF X-2? Get past the first couple hours of hideous J-pop and it was really quite good. I am a 40+ hetero male so this was not easy for me. If you can get over the idea that the magic system is like dolly dress-up time it was possibly the best magic system they ever devised. And the silliest looking outfits were wonderfully powerful. Mascot was such a chore to get and a joy to use. I have just about talked myself into playing it again. Of course I kind of like Spirits Within also so my opinion is probably useless.

My favorite has to be FF XII. It did things different, I liked the political aspect, it was difficult, and above all it was very long. I just recently got the International edition, ironic name since it was only released in Japan, and it changed things even more like being able to break the damage limit and has 12 different license boards for each different "job" or class.
Least favorite; I honesty can't really say I have a least favorite one.

Favourite:
Final Fantasy VII. It is my favourite game of all time; it had better be my favourite in its series.

Least Favourite:
Final Fantasy X-2. It is the only Final Fantasy game that I have played that wasn't great. If this game didn't have fan-service, it wouldn't have anything at all.

Dirge of Cerberus is the only FF I legitimately see no redeeming qualities in, so I'm going with that. Even Mystic Quest is entertaining in its simplicity and X-2 has amazing combat. Dirge of Cerberus was... ugh.

Favourite? VI. Its plot, characters and environments were all amazing and the esper system paved the way for games to come. Plus it just simply has the best scenes, like Celes' suicide attempt or the perfect mix of humour and sadness in the scene where the party tries to reunite Gau with his father. Tactics is close second, and depending on my mood IX or X is third.

Favorites are ff 6, I love Terra, also Kefka best ff villain ever.
And ff 9, I just like it's different artistic style.

Least favorite ff 13, just horrible and boring game. If future ff games are like this one just play Persona games or other megami tensei games, like 10 times better than linear monstrosity that is ff XIII.

Favorite? Tie between two games that nobody has mentioned: Tactics Advanced and Crystal Chronicles.

Tactics advanced had one of the best stories of any game I have ever played. For those not in the know it is about a group of kids who don't really have any friends who end up wishing to be in the world of their favorite game and they get the wish. Then you play the one kid who is trying to get back home as you find all of the other kids who like it better there and refuse to leave. It was a great and very light handed commentary on the way we all use games for escapist reasons. And Crystal Chronicles? The best kind of multiplayer and some of the best music I have ever heard in a game.

Least favorite? 10. Why? This is why: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5FTJxfV3pc

I hated FFXII, bad battle system, stupid licenses, and a story that rips-off Star Wars. Although I never played XI, XIII, or XIV.

I think VI is my favorite, but I've never got past the flying continent.

IX is my favorite. I consider it the best example of an RPG. A perfect blending of older and then new gameplay elements. Had the final boss been Trance Kuja I would consider it a perfect game.

My least favorite is XII. I have tried to finish it on three separate playthroughs, getting further and further each time, and I just can't do it. I abhor the license system, hate the story and consider the only likable characters Balthier and Basch.

Oddly enough, XIII is my second favorite Final Fantasy....
