I don't know its so hard to choose because i like so many genres of metal. I'd say it's a tie between children of bodom and Metallica. As for favorite song, I dont even know. 2,500+ songs of metal ipod fodder makes it hard to choose.

Yet another Metallica fan hmm so hard to choose just 1 song tho... I could go for any of these: One, Master of Puppets, Fade to Black, Welcome Home (Sanatarium)... It's way to hard to choose just ONE, sorry !

I'm not much of a fan of metal, but I have to say Metallica's Unforgiven III and Disturbed's Indestructable are both remarkably badass.

My favorite band of all time is Iron Maiden. They got me into metal and still create the best metal around.

As of late, however, I'm very into Darkthrone, especially their new stuff. I've listened to black metal for a good while now, and the crust punky edge to DTs latest two albums are a nice devation from the 'standard' format.

As for my favorite song, it's a tough choice, there are so many around. If pressed I guess I'd go with Lugburz by Summoning.

Oh, and slavonic metal is awesome! Especially Lipowe Bogi by Slavland cannot be recommended enough.

Agreed, punk beats metal in my books. (though have you read the article about metal being punks *something* cousin. I cant remember it exactly.)

If anyone hasn't heard this band, do yourself a favour and check em out! They are beyond awesome and one of the most insanely heavy but melodic bands around. I love em. They're also one of the few metal bands that aren't afraid to poke fun at themselves!

It is an opinion so no one should really slap you for it (but I wouldnt be suprised if some does).
Punk was and is a big part of metal! with out it we wouldnt have bands like iron maiden, metallica, napalm death etc etc... and alot of metal is basically a punk, metal cross over. So im sure you can find a metal band that has all the ellements in it that you like it punk

I have to say metal seems like it is alot broader of a genre than punk though, so that is why I would put it down being a better genre...
