Today, parody movies seem to be the worst comedies at the box office. However, I remember a time when the parody movie was once a thriving creature, who had legitimate jokes that made you laugh instead of stupid pop-culture references. It might seem like I'm some old guy saying "everything was better back in my day" but I'm actually 18, so I'm not sure if I can actually say that I remember because I don't think I was alive when the good parodies were out :p

Anyway, my favorite of the parody genre almost went to Airplane, but I had to cave to Spaceballs:

So escapists, what are your favorite parody movies?

History of the World, Part 1
I'm still waiting for Part 2.

I suppose the servant waits while the master baits.

Hmm, I second Blazing Saddles. I was tempted to say Starship Troopers but it has been pointed out to me that it wasn't a parody.....whoops

The Dark Knight. A brilliant parody of the Batman comic series (which were a brilliant parody of the concept of Batman, which was a brilliant parody of... silliness.)

Kung Pow: Enter the Fist

My Favourite parody movie, and one of my favourite movies.

It's also incredibly funny, the first time i watched it i nearly died from laughing so hard.

And even to this day, me and my friend always quote it.

"At that moment, the chosen one learned a valuable lesson about iron claws THEY HURT LIKE CRAP MAN!"

Shame their wasn't a sequel, even though it was planned to have one. :(

(Plus in my mind it was the only film to have ever made a fart gag hilarious)

Space Balls and Robin Hood: Men in tights rank right up there as my favorite parodies. Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz come in a close second (mostly because they don't seem to be completely parody movies).

TEAM America: World Police

Perfect parody of Michael Bay-esq movies, and... well, everything else it comes in contact with.

Shaun of the Dead.

When they pretended to be zombies, it just cracked me up.

I'll second Robin Hood: Men in Tights as well as Shaun of the Dead.
