Pugs and Golden Retrievers, because those are the two breeds I own. I know, I'm like a console fanboy, defending whichever console I own.

golden retriever.

There are no other dogs.

(yes, that is an 8 year old Matt_LRR holding his very first puppy. To the left is the same dog - the greatest that ever lived at 14 years of age.)

Breeds are the Sega dream cast of the dog world. Everyone wants one, but when you get it you realize there is just too many cons to pros. Mutts are the way to go. Breeds, because of breeding, are prone to health and psychological problems. Mutts. because of breeding, are less prone to such things. I'm not saying "breeds" are bad, but mutts that you can find at your local ASPCA or pound are more likely to be better overall bets with better temperaments and better health. Also... CATS SUCK!

Australian Shepards are by far my favorite breed. I own one, and while he hasn't been the easiest dog out there, has brought me alot of joy. Their intelligence, independence and eagerness to learn fascinates me.

Aside from them I'd go for a Rottweiler, Husky or Irish/English Setter. All wonderful dogs.

I love Alaskan Malamutes, but I've never actually had one. The favorite kind of dog I ever had was a Beagle/German Shepherd mix, and she was the best.

I'm also becoming partial to Boxers.

Malteses. I have one and she is the best thing in the world. Even better than Coca Cola.

Japanese Akitas are some of the most majestic breeds out there with their luxurious fur coats and that delightfully twisted tail of theirs'.
Unfortunately, as purebreeds, they're prone to a lot of diseases like blindness and certain cancers, and my uncle's- Athena- had to be put down for it.

I'm more of a cat person, really, but if I'd ever get a dog, I'd probably go for a husky.

Shedding would always be a problem, but it would be worth it just to hug their adorable fluffiness :)

Aesthetically, I love weimaraners. They are gorgeous animals. I love labs and German Shepards as well. But when it comes down to it I love all them non-purebred mutts out there too.

Looks like someone attacked a dingo with a hairdryer and a can of volumiser. :D
