The ending to Rozen Maiden springs to mind immediately. I thought it was alright, but not particularly good and really disappointing because it left quite a few questions unanswered.
Why did Barasuishou crumble away? What the hell happened after that with Rozen? What was with that freaky rabbit guy, and why did everyone suddenly know his name? Did Souseiseki and Hinaichigo ever come back?
If it counts, the Sinnoh League tournament in Pokémon was really freaking annoying. I thought that Ash finally had a chance at winning, given that he finally began to rotate his new (and rather powerful) and his old (also powerful) Pokémon in and out of his party between matches. But NO! We can't have Ash actually win a tournament, now can we? Enter Tobias, who promptly curb-stomps the ENTIRE LEAGUE using one Pokémon, a Darkrai which legendary, extremely powerful and absurdly rare, wipes out most of Ash's team with said Darkrai and, when it finally goes down, he sends in Latios, another legendary Pokémon, to clean up. It goes down, too, but the fact that he had TWO legendary Pokemon and mopped the floor with Ash's team with just them pegs him as quite the Marty Stu character...

There was also the infamous ending to Neon Genesis Evangelion...

The 2nd half of the original Fullmetal Alchemist Anime.
The plot was awful imo. The manga/Brotherhood were 6 times better.
I think you meant that Character Development was better. Plot was better in the original anime.

"Bad guy is a human with vanity issues = Believable"
"I want to summon God and replace him = What?"
It's anime. Nothing about it is reeeally believable. I liked the plot better in the manga, but yes character development was far better in the manga than that botched attempt to make up an ending ad lib.
For Brotherhood (I don't hate the series, quite the opposite, look at my avatar) I didn't like several things:

How Scar was portrayed
How Mustang was portrayed

Both of them follow more believable arcs in the original anime. I thought they dragged out the Central battle way too long in the 2nd anime, for no better reason than to throw as many characters into the mix as possible. But finally, the 1st followed a theme: "Equivalent exchange, and how it CANNOT be used for everything in life." If the 2nd had a theme, I missed it.
To each his own I guess, the theme of Brotherhood that I got was that "Attempting to obtain godhood is foolish, be comfortable with who you are, or your own pride will destroy you."
(Did you finish the series, or are you still watching it on adult swim?)

I personally think the Central Battle was more realistic to a real battle/assault of that magnitude.

That's why you read the mangaaaaaa.
Gantz anime is so poor compared to the manga.

And OT, I'll also add moe to my previous comment. Just moe in general.
K-On is a boring turd with no appealing points. i don't understand the moe love.

Dude I know how you feel

That was mine thought on hotd for the first part and then it just got lost in fanservice.

Still enjoyed it for teh lulz though.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.305308-What-is-your-greatest-disappointment-in-Anime#12262466
I saw the OVA though (well half of it anyway), I had to stop because I just can not stand pointless nudity. If there is a reason for it fine I will call it art, but when they do that to my physics I rolled my eyes and gave up for good on the series.

I admit, it was a little funny and good when they stopped the fanservice and got back to the story but I still feel betrayed. Mostly because of this thread I started http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.232178-Poll-Highschool-of-the-Dead-H-O-T-D .

It was months ago but I still feel badly for going all 'fanboy' show I had not finished yet and gave me warning signs that it would be full of fanservice at some point. I feel betrayed and even after almost a year after watching the last episode, I still feel more then a bit of resentment over the studios failing. Well I will end this rant of mine, Thank you for taking the time to read it.
lol the ova was pure fan service, I enjoyed it for teh lulz and the whole series doesnt really have much nudity(like I think there were only 3 times they actually showed bare breasts) and the ova didnt have that tbh only high school girls in skin tight bikinis.

I let it all slide cuz the maker of hotd drew hentais from wut I heard. Also the dub for it was really good, better than I expected.

I got some good animes that balance fan service and plot nicely if you're interested.
Explain that to the Army Chaplin that was looking of the shoulder of his Chaplain Assistant (ME) during an "unfortunate" scene of Full Metal Panic:TSR. Saying "It was just breasts taken out of context" is not quite good enough. I just do not like surprise nudity.

I am interested in good anime with some fanservice. Just no Nudity. I am still on thin ice from last weeks incident with FMP.
Dude never watch anime and or read manga in work(or in public places), you will get in trouble for it.(for unforeseen events)

Was reading a manga in school that had fairly small fanservice and then next thing I know, it showed off bare breasts in full detail. Luckily no one was around me and I didnt get in trouble, but after that day I never read manga or watch anime in public places.

Alright good animes that have fanserivice but no nudity are

Please Teacher: I can safely say that this anime did romance right, the guy isnt a retard when it comes to knowing a girl likes him and they actually hold hands and kiss. It has 0 panty shots and jiggly breasts and its only fanservice is having attractive women in it really. Dont watch the 13th episode at work that one has sex but it has 0 nudity(its the equivalent of watching a sex scene in a rated R movie, no nudity just heavily implied) and is actually meaningful and romantic(yes I know its hard to believe but its the truth).

Witchblade: This one is very subjective, yes it features women in revealing demon like armor but it has 0 jiggly boobs and panty shots(there is only one scene where it shows bouncing boobs but it was a 3 second scene). The anime is about a mother just trying to protect her daughter from having an unlikable future. Here this review sums it up great [http://justreviews.net/article.php?id=24]

Angel Beats: This anime has 0 fanserivce and its really heartwarming and sad. Its about a high school that acts as a purgatory so that people can let go of their regrets and do the things they never did when they were alive. I highly recomemnd it.

All of these animes have good dubs (imo) and I believe you can watch witchblade in funimations youtube channel in dub.

Hope you enjoy one of them.

Every single anime with 'romances' that never move anywhere, that has multiple 'love interests', that has a dipshit protagonist that seems to be physically incapable of making decisions.

1. The second half of Gurren Lagaan just totally sucked. Not just because Kamina was dead but also because it was extremely stupid and ridiciulous.
2. The second season of Darker than Black because the end didn't explain the shitload of questions it had unanswered and they had another main character who was boring and had way too much screentime. But Hei was still badass.
3. Highschool of the Dead becau- FANSERVICE!
4. Ore no Imouto because I first watched all the episodes but suddenly found out that they released 4 extra episodes. The bad thing was that the first of the new episodes changed the ending so the main characters sister went to America but in the last of the extra episodes she just came back. It was like nothing ever happened.
5. Amagami SS because I had a favourite female character and after all the different routes, an episode called "Truth" changed the story so the main character ends up with some weird stalker girl.
6. Kaiji is actually fucking awesome but after every episode it's cliffhanger-time. Which was a bit annoying but fine because that is what makes Kaiji great.
7. Setokai Yakuindomo was extremely funny but it just ended too early and has no second season.
8. The Accelerator in Toaru Majutsu no Index didn't have enough screentime in the first season and he was a bit disadvantaged in the second season because he could only use his ability for a limited time. He still is my favouite character in any anime I ever watched.

Know where I can get these? English subbed, much preferred in HD. Didn't know they released more than what there was.

I'm sad that Negima still hasn't gotten an anime that follows the manga completely. They keep having to spin off and do their own thing because they catch up. It seems like they finally got the right idea of just make a few episodes at a time and let the manga jump ahead, but they're cutting out a lot of stuff now that I want to see.
Makes me wonder why anime doesn't just do what sitcoms do. Have new episodes in the fall and winter, then take spring and summer off to let the manga move ahead. I'm sure there are plenty of reasons that this is a bad idea though.

Crappy taste in choice, and it's mostly distilled progression of the same old shit. The exceptions are the anime and choices of creation I like and the only ones I can take seriously, or even consider respecting.

OK. I've genuinely not read every reply because, let's be honest it's feckiig 6:35am lol. I don't read manga unless I have it genuinely in my hands( reading via my Pc gives me ridiculous head aches) and I just prefer moving pictures. So far in my humbled experience I think the Katekyo Hitman Reborn and D:Grey Man anime's to be amongst the most disappointing. Simply because they have so much to give. I still read Reborn! to this day via manga and i just think D:Grey Man Lost out on pretty much it's best arc by not being (fecking win) anime. In my humble opinion Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Is the greatest anime ever. It got everything PERFECT. The music, the timing, the characters. EVERYTHING. <3 I shall some day get the guuren brigade tattoo'd on me. Fact...Simply my 2$ worth :) XxX

In general: Too many episodes. Not only is 157 a weird number to end on, it's too many! And inner monologues that are too damn long. It's five minutes of crap they've covered every episode. Talk about stretching for time. The Claymore anime comes to mind instantly, because of a previous rant post about it on another thread. lol

Still watching it, but I read the whole series.

As far as the Central fight goes, I can't help but think if it wasn't the final battle, and this was about 15 episodes back, the Armstrong siblings would have torn Sloth to shreds. But they had to be losing so we have an excuse to show Izumi in action. Oy.
Eh. I never liked Izumi. That may have to do with her beating up my fav character (see profile pic for details)

Heh. Read the manga. It goes utterly mental.

For me it would be the second season of Toaru Majutsu no Index. It wasn't meant to be taken too seriously, especially considering the main character's strategy essentially consisted of punching people in the face till they agreed with him, but whenever the show got into the heavy magic stuff it became stuffy and dull. The second season is entirely heavy magic stuff. Sadface.

School Days, I'm ashamed to have even watched it.

I saw the ending first which made me think, "Oh, this must be a thriller of some sort."

What I got was fan service and bad writing embodied into animation
