I've been really getting into Y version, going for a special attack team, pending aquisition of Sunny Day, or Mega Charizard Y w/ Drought.

Braixen (Fire)
Charmeleon (Fire)
Pidgeotto (Normal/Flying) (Fly, basically)
Solrock (Rock/Psychic)
Combusken, (Fire/Fighting)
Scraggy (Dark/Fighting) <-- love this guy.

What do you think? What do you use? Are there types you just won't have in your party? =D

Aren't you screwed against a team of water Pokemons?

The evolution of Braixen can learn Solarbeam, which fires instantly under the effects of Sunny Day. (So can Solrock)

I pretty much try to keep my team balance if I can which I tend to rely on Marriland team build feature they got (in saying so I don't like the newer version of it).
When I mean balance I mean trying to keep the weaknesses less than 3 and not too many of it.

Right now I'm using-
Charizard

Greninja

Meowstic Male (yes I know female is better so I'm gonna give him some TM to make up for his lack of good moves.)

Aurorus (she is great to used and the first time I properly used an Ice type! She got good special attack and has high HP to boot despite she having seveal weaknesses to.)

Heliolisk

Calwtizer

I will say that at the moment my team is special attack/ defence heavy which I see it as a bad thing since I am screwed against physical attack or very high special defence Pokemons. I am in a dilemma of wheather or not to replace one of them with Scizor (or maybe Gengar but its not physical attack) since I also thinking of addding another Mega evolve Pokemon into the team aswell (I only got Charizard for that).

As for the types I would used well I guess I dislike Grass the most since that the type that has the most weaknesses (fire, bug, posion, ice and flying). Ok the same can be said to Rock type especially when they are slow (I prefer to attack first) but I had used Rock type more than once in the past (I using Aurorus right now). The past Grass types (Venusaus, Jumpfluff and Serperior) had let me down.

I think you (will) have too many type redundancies, and if you're going that route, its best to have Pokemon that share few to no weaknesses. e.g. Ludicolo and Tentacruel on the same team is a good redundancy because their respective secondary Grass and Poison typing keeps them from being weak to the same things.

What do you use?
I prefer a lot of dual types for as much STAB moves and coverage as possible (though really good mono type Pokemon like my Typhlosion, Jolteon and Serperior will be exceptions), fast Pokemon, and either mixed attackers and/or a mix of mons that specialize in high attack or special attack.

On my X version:
Delphox= Fire/Psychic
Heliolisk= Electric/Normal
TalonFlame= Fire/Flying
Azumarill= Water/Fairy
Lucario= Fighting/Steel
Krookodile= Ground/Dark

On my Y version:
Greninja= Water/Dark
Garchomp= Ground/Dragon
Lucario= Fighting/Steel
Gourgeist= Ghost/Grass
Charizard= Fire/Flying
Gardevoir= Psychic/Fairy

Are there types you just won't have in your party? =D
No. I've been playing since Gen 2 and have since used all the types in my party at some point or another and gained a preference for some over others. e.g I always pick the Fire Starter in my first game, because my first pokemon was a Cyndaquil named Flare in Gold and he set a precedent for all my starters and Fire types. On my second and/or third game, I will use some other Fire type on my team as I tend to use a different starter, like Totodile in Silver, Treecko in Sapphire, Snivy in White and Oshawott in White 2. That said, Treecko and Snivy were my favorite non-fire starters before Froakie.

Fifth gen saw me seriously using Bug types for the first time since my beloved Butterfree in both Blue and in Leaf Green; those would be my Leavanny, Galvantula and Volcarona. I have also taken to loving Fairy type as my Azumarill (I've used one for Dragon slaying in my Gold team and now this one is even more efficient at the task with his Play Rough attack) and Gardevoir make light work of a lot of enemies in the game.

TL;DR: I love them all, with an extra special place in my heart for Fire, Dark, Flying and Fairy types, and make use of them on my teams.

My friends, listen as I enlighten you. The truth you are about to behold may shock and disturb you.

This is the answer.

It's just that simple. Everybody is scared of spooky ghosts, they will never properly fight back. Feel free to take plenty of notes on the most powerful team ever conceived by humanity.

The best.

Well the evolved form of Braixen is Fire/Psy, Charizard is now Fire/Flying, and Pidgeot will be replaced by something else that can fly and has SpAtk =D Mega Charizard has Drought, too, so that should really put the heat on things =D

You're name and ava are two of the main reasons I can't wait to play Pokemon X along with my brand new 3DS when christmas comes around.
Haha I wish I did have a Shiny Charizard.... Mega Shiny Charizard would be awesome.

i am the kind of A-hole that likes to always have a Legendary party, because i don't like challenge in the games that i play, i like to wipe the floor by being as cheap as possible. and if i am not on top on any game i play i don't play that game. so i don't play a lot of multiplayer unless i know i can win, so i usually play against little kids, yes my self-esteem is very low.

My teams in Pokemon games always feel complete when I have a Fire, Water, Grass, and Dragon type on it. The other two spots can be for just about anything else as I have favorites from every type.

Though my dream team of favorites would consist of, (note: I don't play competitively often)

Reshiram- Dragon/Fire
Charizard- Fire/Flying
Samurott- Water
Serperior- Grass
Giratina- Ghost/Dragon
Meloetta- Normal/Psychic/Fighting

Not the most balanced team, but it's effective enough, it does have three legendaries after all. >.>

For X in particular, since I only have access to Charizard for my dream team, if I had to make a rag-tag party, it would be,

Xerneas, Greninja, Charizard, Tytantrum, Yveltal, and Blaziken.

I build a team consisting of my starter, the first three or so early pokemon I catch that I become attached to, and two more deliberately selected to cover types the others don't. I figure out what they can all do from there. Made much, much more viable with that most beloved and holy of all the BW changes, reusable TMs.

This usually works for me...although I did suddenly realize halfway through White 2 that my team was composed primarily of glass cannons (Lilligant, Lucario, Excadrill, and to an extent Samurott; only Audino and Umbreon had decent defense beyond typing) and that I was ridiculously weak against fighting (four weak) and fire (three weak).

Still playing White 2, and an all-Eeveelution team (all the available ones minus Umbreon) will be my first all-deliberate team. Don't really have any types I won't use, though since I typically try to pick a team and stick with it throughout the game, whichever ones don't show up until later I don't get to use much (especially dragon).

Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites.
Yeah, that's me right there.

I remember getting a shiny Charmander once while playing Pokemon FireRed....that Pokemon was my strongest one too.I also have a shiny Rhyhorn that evolved into a yellow plated Rhypherior that I got in Platinum.It's level 70 with some very good moves and was part of my best Platinum teams.
The only shiny I ever found was a Shiny Onix in Pokemon FireRed. And Shiny Onix looks like someone vomited on it lol.
