I think we should be sending our Jedis home. We don't need to be using their lightsaber skills in Iraq, when they are more needed on our home front.
Completely missing the point of the post. But that's why I love you.
Why do we need to be using them in Iraq anyways? We should be worried about the Taliban, and lightsabers aren't meant for cave combat.
I think your forgetting the great 2nd war of Geonosis - the mighty battle between Dookoo and Yoda in a cave

If you punch someone with the business end of a blade thats called stabbing.

It's the motion of how he's doing it - I could hold the handle of a knife and stab someone; But with the hidden blade he punches them with it between his knuckles.

I'm not talking about semantics - I'm talking about how he does the stabbing.

It is a punchy weapon, for the most part. What fucks up your argument a little is a dagger-like weapon in the second game since you can actually fight and block with the hidden blade. So just think that you are right concerning the first game, and half-right concerning the second.

That bit always winds me up - if you look at the first picture of Ezio in this thread - you will see most of the edge of the blade(s) are blunted off to prevent finger-less-ness. yet he swings them about like it's going outta fashion.

I think the whole situation boils down to what the developers thought would look cool while bending over to the people who bitched about the first game. I know a lot of people wanted to fight with the hidden blade in the first game, but they didn't like how that was a challenge. So the developers decided to add the blocking and fighting mechanic onto the counter system that the hidden blade already had, which bugs me because like you said, it doesn't look like it can work both ways, and by doing so, it ruined a challenge i enjoyed o so much in the first game

I always thought the Hidden blade normal attacks should just be normal punches and the Combo kill finisher should be an awesome hidden blade kill & make us block with the metal plate they put on Ezio's arm yet he never uses.

I always saw the assassination animation in AC2 as open palmed, but assuming I'm wrong I guess you could technically say that despite the way he uses the knife it is a stab ended with a punch.

When he assassinates someone he has the blade in between his knuckles, but the knife connects with them first, making it a stab. Then as the knife goes into the guy he will eventually hit them with his fist, making it a punch.

I'm not going against it being a stab - as anything sharp being put in you - is a stab.

I'm saying is the motion Ezio and Altair inserts said sharp object into them a Slashy Dagger way or a Punch in the gut with a blade way.

And to add to the bit about the 'Open palm' - Altair and Ezio could just be Kung-fu fighters.

Some fighting styles have you punch your enemy with an open palm - although maybe they just want the blade without the fist for easy kills.

Basically - with a dagger you have to clutch a handle of some sort and that makes it the blocks/parries of a sword - while with the Hidden blade; you have to grip it between your knuckles.

The whole thing reminds me of Wolverine vs a knife wielding Mob.

It's a hidden blade? That's what the weapon is called. Hidden blade. So it's a blade, that is hidden.

How hard is this logic?

This is a over-analyzing nerd corner; we are the type of people who argue the Blaster vs the Phazer and Aragorn vs Legolas.

Off topic, but how come Ezio has all his fingers?

They blunted off the edges so it doesn't cut your fingers
Perhaps the assassins of 1191 weren't too bright.

If you really think about it, that last statement was a little strange. They made a "prototype" if you will, they most likely knew it could be modified but they didn't have time when your in a ensuing battle.

Thats like saying the man who created the first computer wasan't bright because we modified it years later. You know what I'm saying?

Good argument - but in the Assassin's creed universe the First Hidden blade was used by Darius to Assassinate Xerxes a while 456 BC.

It all comes out when you have bought the black version and 100% completion like me =/

Yes - I have no life.

Not unless it has a grip made for your knuckles.

This is your average knife.

This is a punching dagger

There is a difference.

It seems that all the standing assassinations (non flying or pulling a guy off of a ledge) are done open palmed with the fingers facing down. Its pretty easy to see because on all of these assassinations in the video his forearm is facing up. Assuming that is correct it would be impossible to grip the blade between the knuckles, because the blade comes from the wrist and the hand is flat against the victim with knuckles facing toward the user. I think the last assassination is a accurate depiction of they all look like.

I guess that still wouldn't be an accurate dagger stab or slash though - seeing as it is straight forward from the wrist without a handle that you hold Vertically.

Grasp? Grasp a fucking knife? Grasp a fucking knife that is already connected to some mechanism on their wrist, so it stays there firmly?

[HEADING=1]What's the point?![/HEADING]
