I judge a guy on his willingness to go down on me.

Unprompted oral is what makes a real man ;D

No really. I do judge guys on that.
Where the hell have you been girl?!?

Most girls I have to practically tongue-rape, and only then do they realise what they've been missing out on!

...and even then they don't even say thank you :/

On topic though, dudes who don't have to obviously chase girls, or compromise all their personality and individuality to get female attention.

Last time I checked having a penis classified me as a man.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's basically the only qualification.
your 100% correct but then, what about people like lady gaga who have both?
jokes.. but yes there are some with both?
and a lot of people stereo type it into being really sexual etc. etc.
its a lot easier being your self =x.x= (fail face right there)

There are certain criteria to be a man
  • You need to have or have had(an accident could of happened) a penis, testes and the ability to impregnate a female human
The capacity to grow a beard
You need to be able to raise a healthy child
Know the difference between right and wrong
Have atleast 1 oversized/overpowered powertool/computer/car/tele you will probably never use or is way more than you will ever need.
If you can comply to atleast these you are a man.

To me a man is one who will not compromise his beliefs for anyone.
He is willing to stand for what he believes in even if it hurts or leads to rejection.

And on a more personal level i believe a man is someone who doesn't follow the worlds view of what a macho manly man is, a sex driven idiot who should be fighting and having sex all the time.

I think a "Real" man is someone who would rather talk something out then fight, someone who respects women, and someone who will do anything for their fiends.

But i wouldn't dwell on it, if your happy with yourself then what does it matter what your GS's Friend thinks?
I was thinking of saying something about Captain America, but this seems to sum up all of his admirable traits sans the self confidence to wear tightly fitting spandex.

Sir, might I recommend you take a gander at Leo Braudy's, From Chivalry to Terrorism: War and the Changing Nature of Masculinity.

The past expressions of, and examinations upon masculinity may assist your ponderings.

I am so glad that you exist.
EDIT: weird, didn't think that was a special thing. Never really thought I was the minority.

Integrity.
A man without integrity is a worm.
Biological factors aside, this sums it up nicely.

Also, I was taught that a large part of "manliness" stems from:

"staying true to your self" and "not doubting your own manliness on account of someone else's opinion"

Seems to work for me.

An adult male.

Or was this a philosophical question?

Also, both your girlfriend and her friend are talking complete crap.

I think that a man is made by power. As power, sums up the following manly things:
-Straight up political power (Pretty straight forward)
-Wearing a uniform/suit (You belong to a faction, that's why women love them)
-Being attractive (Feel it should be mentioned in a very image-based society)
-Having money (Money is power, and with power, you don't need happiness :D)
-Sleeping with women (which summons respect, and in turn power)

Hitler fought the damn world, while he may be evil, he was damn powerful (and crazy) he had amazing pull, inspired some hugo boss-designed uniforms and had access to entire armies. Hence Hitler *might* be pretty damn manly.

...Just might...

To me it's a lot of outdated things like being brave chivalrous and noble(nothing to do with money only behavior). I have met 16 year old men and 45 year old boys.
