questions asked throughout the ages. right up there with "Whats the meaning of life?", and "What does this button do?" in my opinion, being a man literally means having the y chromosome, but it also means reaching a stage of maturity where you can take pride in your doings, respect others' dignity, and always choosing the right decision. A real man never stops maturing, he only matures to a point where he becomes an old man, and an old man provides for his family, raises his kids to be the men like he is, and retain all of his man-nerisms until death.

X.

Y.

Testosterone.

Reckless abandon.

Courage.

Male genetalia.

Body hair.

Facial hair.

Older than 10 and younger than 9&10x9000 years old.

Libido.

As long as you have those things, you are a man.

Also, the male sexual peak is 18. If you're 14, you still have your best years ahead of you.

Punch a bear in the frozen forests of Alaska, swim south into the pacific ocean, then proceed to beat the shit out a shark.

That'd be manly.

Last time I checked having a penis classified me as a man.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's basically the only qualification.
I think you need a pair of balls as well.

But if we are going off how a man acts in a relationship I think that a man is a guy who treats the woman well and with respect, but that's just me.

Also there is a bit of maturity and a certain age that you have to meet before you can be called it as well.
I've always been told that that's pretty much what it means. A "real man" looks out for the women (or, really, people in general) in his life.

I'd write my opinion on what a real man is, but I can't be bothered to look through 6 pages to see if it has already been said. Imma save it for some other time. But being a sex-driven idiot is not being a man, I'll say that much.

Just watch the movie "Secondhand Lions". Not only is it a pretty good movie (judging by the title and description I expected a borefest but was surprisingly amused) but one of the uncles has a speech about what makes a real man. I don't remember all of it but the basics are things like love, honor, and integrity are important above all else...uh...huh...I dunno, go watch the movie.

A real man eh? Most people probably classify that as a mans man. A man who gets fuckin' drunk. A man who can't show any emotion - ever - and someone that's generally a complete dick.

Personally I view a real man my self though someone that's honest with himself and not a complete asshole just for the sake of being considered manly. Changing your self to try and be 'manly' just for the sake of trying to make your self manly just makes you a liar, a poser, and a fake. A man who's honest with himself is a man that can truly say he's proud of who and what he is.

What makes a monster and what makes a man?
A man has a brake on his emotions, can appreciate a female without being obsessed, neither bashes people with his religion, nor flees its consequences, always is aware of his responsibilities, does not judge by appearance, and cares for abandoned children in his spare time.
So say the Bells of Notre Dame

You are wrong, the only qualification is possessing a Y chromosome. These days not having a Y chromosome does not make it impossible to have a penis. Why we can turn vaginae inside out and form them into pseudo-penises now.

Of course, this is excluding people with sexual mutations, whom are impossible to define merely by their chromosomal makeup.

Edit: It seems that there are "females" with XY sex chromosomes who are afflicted by Swyer Syndrome. I've learned a lot today.

Well technically...

It depends, biologically yes, but I believe there is another classification for genders depending on your mental processes: thoughts, actions, behaviours. But I'm not sure so.. yeah.

OT: I often feel different to other men around me as a lot of them I know are constantly dwelling on sexual subjects and do other stereotypical male things which I often find incredibly boring and a little repulsive. But I wouldn't know if that makes me more or less of a man.

In brief, a male can be classified as one that possesses the male reproductory organs, such as a penis. an Xy chromosome is also necessary. They also possess testerone which creates differences between the female of the species.
