While I was driving home from work today I was listening to a classic rock station and I heard about 3 songs from the mid to late 90's and I felt old as shit since these are songs that were popular when I was in Middle and High School. What things that you see and hear make you feel old?

Even though I am only 20, I feel old when my younger sister has to explain terms she is using to me because the terms I used 3 years ago are no longer in usage.

One being a similar case to yours, when I listen to music that's from a long while back and nobody knows who it is, and me being the only one who's singing. :(

Or when I don't shave my beard.

Seconded.

And also when 40 year old men call me "boss"

I had a girl behind the counter at Gregg's call me "Sir" the other day. I'm only 19! She couldn't have been more than a year younger than me as well.

My exhaustion and my heart. My insomnia has aged me twice my actual age. I honestly feel 30, and like my heart was 40, and I'm actually 20.
In conversation, when I have so much experience compared to my counterpart, it just feels silly. But they can be my age. It's just that I have experienced a lot, and that makes me feel old. Everyone has always come to me for advice. I also get very tired of life some times. Tired of the world. Irony of the world-weary twenties, huh? But seriously, I have experienced too much for my own good. >_>

Being in the presence of kids.

Nothing wrong with being old until your organs start failing. A lazy bunch they are...like kids these days.

I'm proud of my age (36). But back when I was about 20 some kids at an arcade machine said "Let the man have a go". I walked away confused.

When my younger brothers have to ask me about a refrence I made. I got a copy of School House Rock on DVD for the youngest so I wouldn't have to explain it to him. It just wouldn't make sense.

The gray hair that peppers my beard (I'm only 18 by the way *cry*) and when my Anatomy teacher mistakes me for a senior when I'm only a sophomore. It happened a long time ago but it was the first time I realize that I look several years older than I actually am.

The fact that Nick at Nite plays the Cosby Show and Full House when it used to show I Love Lucy makes me die a little inside as well as make me feel old.

My general idea is that the 80's were twenty years ago, the 70's 30 years etc. Everyone got stupider. Oh and I'm annoyed about little kids playing on my front lawn at around seven o'clock (which is dark here) without anyone watching them while there screaming help because someone's chasing them. I'm only 15.....

Here. Yeah I'm 21 and my little brother does a similar thing, however it's usually computer and internet related. That only causes me a little worry as I may have gone off track in the last few years rather than grown old.

To spout another cliche (I know why cliches exist now, chance are half of them are true...) you're only as old as you feel. I vow never to be that old geezer in the corner sipping away his bitter lamenting at how the good old days used to be. I will always be 16 at heart, it was such a wonderful age and one I think I'll carry with me. Regardless of my actual age. So far 21 is ok aswell :).
