I mostly listen to post-hardcore and metalcore.

Here's a song I'm really digging right now:

Classic Rock (60's - 70's, mostly), Hard Rock, Metal and a few other bands that either fall close to these categories, or make really good music.

My favourite genres are: hardcore punk, metalcore, hardcore, pop-punk, deathcore and post-hardcore.
Some of my favourite bands are...
The Gaslight Anthem
Gallows
Every Time I Die
The Clash
Fucked Up
Rancid
Biffy Clyro
Letlive.
New Found Glory
AFI
Sharks
Cancer Bats
Comeback Kid
A Day To Remember
And many, many more...
Yay! A Comeback Kid, Cancer Bats and Gallows fan on The Escapist!

OT: My musical tastes have developed over the years and I've come to like a very broad range of things. When I was growing up I hated pop and all this "mainstream crap" but over the last few years I've begun to really enjoy some of the more superficial chart toppers. Despite the knowledge that I could get bashed for saying this, I have really been enjoying the (British) X-Factor this year. There's a girl on this year's series called Misha B and, say whatever you like about the The X-Factor, but this girl can definitely sing...and adapt. In my opinion, She's simply incredible.

Now, none of the chart toppers would ever find themselves on my iPod because that space is reserved for other - what I deem to be better - things. Let's just play a game of iTunes shuffle to see what kinds of bands I love:

Clearly, my Itunes didn#t fancy showing too much diversity lol. I also think I got a little carried away. I guess you get the idea though.

NOTE: that list of songs is only to showcase some of the bands that I really like not necessarily my favourite songs. Although, Roots Radicals is definitely my favourite Rancid song.

I listen to good music. In a less vague form, anything that's well put together and well orchestrated.

Specifically:
Orchestral/film score music, Two Steps From Hell being a really, really good example.

Older rock. Put this up because it might be my favorite song with vocals out there, but bands like Queen or Aerosmith and songs like Stairway to Heaven (and the first two thirds of One) I tend to enjoy.

Classical and jazz also deserve honorable mentions.

A Hermit's Cave
Quite a few genres:

Baroque - JSB & Handel
Classical - Schumann, Beethoven & Brahms
And a fair few other pieces by preC20 composers as well...

Also, big band jazz, electronic (a la EC outros), rock, some pop and... that's about it.

I listen to alot of stuff, way too much to list. Most people either ask where they can find more, or just stare at me like I'm an alien. I'm not sure which is accurate, I could just be listening to good music, or I could be a mutant.

This one definately feels like today.

It changes from time to time.

A month ago, I was only listening to music off soundtracks. A month before that, I was mainly listening to classical music.

Now, I'm listening to a mixture of experimental post-rock and Darren Hayes. XD

Since you have put a classification between classical and baroque music, I'd like to point out that Schumann and Brahms are from the Romantic period. The most important composers from the classical period are Mozart, Haydn, Schubert and Beethoven (although they transitioned to the Romantic)... Wait.

Man I should stop being such a classical music nerd...

I love Starship Amazing. My favorite song by them has to be Keytars Are For Retards, So We'll Take Two.

OT: I try to listen to just about everything. I live by the philosophy "all music is good until proven otherwise". I never disregard a band until I've listened to them. That said I've noticed that I'm not a huge metal or country fan. I find both genres redundant, but I find some surprises here and there.

My favorite genres have to be Indie rock and alternative.

You don't have to be an angry person to listen to power metal. Here, lemme find some quotes from wiki

"Power metal is highly focused on the vocalist, with "clean" vocals being much more prevalent than the growling vocals often associated with extreme metal."

"Power metal's lyrical themes, though as varied as metal itself, often focus on fantasy and mythology, camaraderie and hope, personal struggles and emotions, war and death, or combinations of the listed themes."

Try Blind Guardian, they even have an entire album devoted to the Silmarillion.

OT: If it's not obvious, I'm into power metal. Now go look up some Blind Guardian.
