Victoria: Total War
World War I: Total War

I'd also like some kind of Wars of Unification/Civil Wars of the 19th Century but that could easily be part of a Victoria Total War.

Greek Total War. Basically the same map as Rome but set about 700 BC. You have the Rise of Persia, Sparta (or SPARTTTTTA as its now know as) and Athens, Alexander would be the expansion.

Anything post 1900 wouldn't really work. Total wars game mechanics relies on there being armies being concentrated in a small battlefield but WW1 and WW2 that was no longer the case. It would be very hard to have artillery with ranges of 20 miles and aircraft with ranges of 1000s inside the current system. How could the current mechanics with turns measuring weeks or months deal with bombing raids that can go to Berlin and back in day. Yeah you could shorten the turn length to 1 day but ww2 would last over 1800 turns. Just using close to real world production times it would 60-90 turns to build new units, so I doubt anyone but the most committed will play that long.

I'd like to see another Rome Total War or something set in that time period again. Either that or try and create one in the modern day, even though it would make combat interesting. Only issue with that is it would be hard to stick with massive blocks of units, which is what I've always liked about the Total War series.

Mods beat you to it.

Another Rome game might do good, considering how well Medieval 2 did. I would be up for some more Triarii action.

Seriously, the amount of mods for Rome Total War alone is tremendous, and covers a wide range of eras and civilization. There's too many to name off the top of my head.

One based on the Seven Years War would be great. It was the first true world war (American readers will know it as the "French and Indian Wars"), and quite brutal.
Or perhaps the Thirty Years War? Who wouldn't want to play a game based on a war that was started when a few catholic bishops were thrown out of a window?

Age of Discovery:Total War.
European nations duking it out, while sending troops to the new world to evict the pesky South American natives out of their lands.
Or a Industrial age total war with access to the entire globe.Seeing Native Americans in reservations go to war with China would be priceless.

If the creators were willing to take the plunge into experimentation, it would be nice to see a futuristic setting. Taking a page from the 'Risk' board games, and broadening beyond the existing world. Moon bases, satellite support, secret submarines and fighter launching airships.

Would be a drastic change in dynamic though.

How about a game about the only war that was actually considered a "Total war" at the time. WWII:Total War.

I don't necessarily like the Total War series, but I would actually play that one.

INUIT: TOTAL WAR

Command vast armies of literally dozens of men.

Featuring unique units such as 'seal-mounted archers' and 'woman in furs with baby'.

Cross the icy wastes with your hordes, then turn around and go home when you realise it's snowy there too.
Game of the Year quality stuff here. I can't wait to unless my horde of 23 people upon my helpless neighbors 500 miles across an icy wasteland.

A Total War set in China at some point would be pretty cool. I know that there were times when huge armies were present in China.

A Renaissance era total war would be pretty cool as well. Allow for warfare that's still similar to medival warfare, but contains some of the new technological advancements like gunpowder.

World War 2 maybe? It'd become a very different game.
Maybe a fantasy version, you know less of a sequal but a spin off with lord of the rings or somthing similar. Warhammer anyone?
