What other total war games could there be?

Asia: Total War ("Medieval" Asia, whenever that was :l). Although there's a Medieval II: Total War mod called All under Heaven which is essentially the same thing, and it looks AWESOME. The amount of research that those modders are putting into it is just mind-boggling and I have no doubt that it will probably beat the pants off whatever CA comes out with next.

I would love a 3 Kingdoms Total War.
China in the three kingdoms period, yeah, gimme some of that. Would be fairly similar to shogun though, massive foot soldier armies, all three kingdoms using fairly similar weapons, and tactics, although Kongming's repeating crossbow would be cool to see, and making it so Shu Han actually won instead of Cao Wei and continuing the Han Empire =P

YES PLEASE!!! Three kingdoms total war WOULD be awesome. However it will only contain three major factions. I know there were other petty rebellions and groups in the period but they're a bit small to be threatening and intimidating. The generals could be like the officers in Dynasty Warriors and can fly and kill entire squads of enemies. (That was a joke, Creative Assembly if you're reading, don't do that otherwise the game would be ruined)

It's not really focused on the Crusades, it's more about the whole Middle-East, but you can play the Kingdom of Jerusalem in it's heyday or one of the other Christian kingdoms in Outremer such as the Kingdom of Armenia, The Kingdom of Georgia, or the Kingdom of Markuria (Ethiopian Orthodox Christians), or the Roman Empire (A.K.A. The Byzantines).

EXACTLY. Dynasty Total War is a theme that has currently been untouched, and I think that would be awesome. I'm not sure where else it could go after that. I want my total war games to be set in the past. I don't think I would enjoy Total War: World War 2, or Total War: Modern Warfare............................... Don't you dare try to make a space marine game dammit.

Maybe a Total War game set in the Ancient times, further back than Rome. Caveman: Total War.

The Romance of the Three Kingdoms games did a fantastic job of capturing the period as an RTS. I think with the Total War polish, a game like this would rock out with its chopsticks out.

I don't care for a modern day total war but I suppose it could work.

technically the native american extermination is covered in Kingdoms and Empire

Fuck yes. Something, anything to represent the mind-boggling diversity and vibrancy of Central Asia, Persia, India, all of it.

And honestly they might as well start doing Lord of the Rings and such. Historical accuracy is a thinning veneer in their games.

I just realized that both of those scenarios have been done and done well by modders. Yet Shogun II will have no mod support because they're switching to some bullshit scripting language. This is so much more boycott-worthy than DRM.
