Grim Fandango. (Works on Vista but a patch would be needed because a puzzle is undo-able with a fast computer.)
Morrowind
Oblivion
AoE2 and 3
AoMythology
The Abe Oddworld games are pretty good if you didn't play them on Ps1.
Half Life 1.

My Xbox recently got the 3-RRODs and my Wii has lost all sense of being fun, so I've decided to buy a gaming laptop (bit too out-and-about all the time for a desktop) and return to the realm of PC gaming. Just so you know, I've set my eyes on an ASUS G71V since it seems to have enough power to deal with up-coming games.

Other than Crysis and the Orange Box, are there any other PC games I've missed since 2003?

P.S. had the Orange box on Xbox, but still love it enough to buy it again.

P.P.S. also getting B&W 2 because I like it.
My PC is where I get my strategy/RPG fix, seeing how the 360 is SHOOT SHOOT KILL KILL FRAG FRAG!!!1!

I would recommend:

The Total War series (Medieval 1 and 2 are my favs)
Warcraft 2 and 3 (2 is an all time classic and 3 is a great game as well.)
Baldur's Gate 2
Diablo 2
Lords of the Realm 2 (if you can figure out how to play this on Vista let me know >.<)
Heroes of Might and Magic (I-III)

Don't get Crysis.
It's pretty, but it's hardly much fun.

Black and White II was good stuff, though.
Neverwinter Nights 2 wasn't bad.

KotOR I and II (more one, though,) are both excellent.
Aw come on Crysis was heaps of fun. How is killing Korean's and Aliens while invisible or super strong not fun :) (also if you're going to get a crysis get warhead, its way more fun.) :)

Age of Empires 3 imo.

I was gonna say Left 4 Dead, but since you had an Xbox 360 before, I suppose you've already played it.

I'll throw in Max Payne and it's sequel (didn't seem them in everyone's list).
Great shooter that makes you feel like a badass, and has an amazing story.
Although, the crying baby (while a important plot device) will make you want to punch the wall.

You should try adventure games like the Sam & Max series or Monkey Island games. I'm a console gamer but still really love those games.

If you want to play a multiplayer game - go with Battlefield 2 (or maybe Battlefield 2142). It's online gameplay of a quality that I have yet to see even approached by console games.

First, shooters in general. Admittedly I'm trying to figure out how to filter out my PC-superiority bias, but keyboard+mouse > controller by a LONG shot for shooters. L4D is a great choice (And on sale for 24 bucks this weekend), Farcry 2 if you like sandbox games, and check out user created mods. Most shooters are on consoles as well, so you probably have an idea of what you may like.

RTS is another Genre where the PC is king. Red Alert 3 is a good choice for the mindless carnage, and Dawn of War 2 should be quite a treat for returning to PC gaming: it has done a lot of new and exciting things.

Its pretty easy to find great games that are slightly old for incredibly cheap. Surf through Steam, check out every weekend deal, and you might find some awesome bargins.

Lastly, if you want unique, innovative indie games, or fun, distracting casual games, PC is where its at. Id recommend And Yet It Moves, Braid (Finally ported to PC), Aquaria, and The Path for really unique experiences. And stuff like Puzzle Kingdoms or Puzzle Quest, Bookworm, Defense Grid: The Awakening, and any number of Popcap or Mumbojumbo games are likely time (wasters) well spent.

Prince of Persia, any of them.
Also, there are some multiplat games which are better on the PC, like Mass Effect and Bioshock.

I'd like to add "Defense Grid: The Awakening" to the list, since no one has mentioned it thus far.

Also, you should have gotten a desktop PC, Gaming Laptops are beyond useless unless you pay 3000 USD. $900 Desktop + $100 Laptop > $1500 Gaming Laptop

You should really check out Mount & Blade. A medieval combat game where you lead a band of mercenaries. It's also got some very awesome mods including a Star Wars one.
