Could you take the 'fuck' out of the title? We don't mind cursing when it's reasonable, but not so much in a title where people can't avoid it should the mood take them.

Also, (providing it's legit) come to Australia! Our spiders don't like the taste of foreigners as much!
That was the best article... :p

But yes, us Australians love everyone.

The letter is for real. I've gone on two trips with these people: Canada in 2003, and China in 2006. Do it. It's awesome.

What did I say that was untrue? You had a big rash or fires recently where whole towns were wiped out. Then apparently you had major floods on another part of the place. Most of it is indeed desert hence why the only really populated areas are the coastlines. You have spiders soo big they have health bars [http://invasiveinfection.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/health_bar_spider.jpg], many of which are poisonous, scorpions, snakes, crocodiles, kangaroos that can punch you out very easily, sting rays (just ask steve irwin). The list goes on.
And as for the accent, my god. If trapped there I would happily pop both my ear drums rather than end up sounding like steve irwin.
What you said was greatly exaggerated and could apply to most places on earth.
Example, USA: There were fires in California and floods in new orleans. There are Bears, Black Widows and Rattlesnakes.

If those are your reasons for hating Australia then you must hate the world, which is a bit sad.

READ THIS http://www.consumeraffairs.com/travel/people_to_people.html they can be nasty people there are both good and bad reports its your choice but be careful if you have any food allergies or health concerns i would probably avoid this group. THEY HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF IGNORING HEALTH CONCERNS! they are very irresponsible and really even though i have no health concerns i would tottaly ignore it. IGNORE THE LETTER and go on with your life.

How big is australia compared to say the US? So while they are large countries with spread out problems and a lot of redeeming values australia packs them in to a small island and has what exactly to redeem itself?
I don't think anything I say will convince you not to hate Australia, eveything I say will be tinted by your strange hate, I'm not even going to bother.

Bah, you australian quitters. No staying power. >.>
Anyway you confuse hatred with simply not seeing anything of worth. I do not hate australia however I see nothing redeeming about it either. And as you are yet to counter even my sample list of things wrong with even one redeeming feature obviously you see nothing of worth either.
No I see you acting like a troll. Not just here but in your other posts as well.

Thats why I'm not going to continue this, you're not listening.

Aww. That first story is sad. I don't think I want to go now. I have a few allergies but nothing too serious. But the main thing is that I'm vegetarian. I'll eat dairy but I won't eat any meat at all.

It was like when I went on a trip to Washington DC (Beautiful, by the way.) with my 8th grade class and the scaled down menus from the restaurants we went to all consisted of meat. Out of all the places we went, there was not a single food item I could eat.

I lived off of Rice Krispy Treats, Fig Newtons, and Diet Cherry Coke for 2 weeks. I lost 10 pounds.

Investigate People to People first, I won't trust it instantly. However, if it's real: gods I envy you, DO IT!! It's an oppertunity of a lifetime, if it's real.

That's the best choice. Just ignore him. He's being a troll. I've seen Australia's beaches and major cities. They're absolutely gorgeous.

It's someone trying to lure you into an empty shipping crate. Once inside, you will be drugged, tortured, raped repeatedly in any and every orifice, and then have lamp shades made from your testicles.

OR

It's legit and you have the chance to visit someplace really neat. Who knows, you might bump into Yahtzee.

Okay, so as some of you may know, I'm home schooled and have been for a little over a year. I've enjoyed it much more than regular school and I plan on sticking with it until I get a job or go to college or whatever. But today, I got a letter.

The letter is from a group that I've never heard of called People to People. The letter mentions me and uses my real name and it says they know I'm home schooled and (obviously) where I live so its not just some random crap thats sent to just whoever lives at the current house. The letter was talking about becoming an exchange student.

I didn't think thats how you become an exchange student, but whatever. It says, and I'm quoting this, "To the parents of Julian King, Julian is invited to travel and study in Australia in the summer of 2010...All students must be invited annually, so we are pleased to offer Julian this once in a life time opportunity to travel on a 2010 program."

I don't know why I got this.

So my question is, what do my fellow Escapists make of it? I have no idea what to make of it. I'm not 100% convinced that this is for real. Although I have always wanted to go to Australia.

So what do you guys think?
It's real. I've been on it before a year or two before I went to High School. It was fairly fun, though I ran out of money to be able to dive at the Great Barrier Reef. I forget the exact details about the route, all I remember is that we spent a chunk of time in Sidney. All told, we traveled through most of New Zealand and the east coast of Australia for ~3 weeks.

Dunno how it goes nowadays though.

My mother worked for People to People for a few years. If I recall correctly, it's a group that mainly takes groups of high school students to other countries for a few weeks, usually with a couple employees and several teachers, my 8th grade teacher being one of them. My mother managed one of the trips to China.

So no, it's not a trap.
But it could be some other... dodgey copy organisation.

It's a legit offer, as I got one also. And I've my sister has a friend who used People to People to be an exchange student. But the tuition fees are rather pricey. I think mine was $6000 at the least.

And the trip only lasts for two weeks, IIRC
That's weird. So two weeks in Australia with a bunch of people I don't know with no video games and it costs 6000 dollars. Now I'm more skeptical.
Why not bring your videogames? C'mon we don't bite.... BUT OUR SPIDERS DO!!!!

I got that a long time ago and didn't go.

Dunno if it was PtP though, but a similar offer.
