depends, will you be in school the WHOLE time, or would you be able to go around town, check out the shops and restaurants, explore austrailia.
If its the 1st answer, say fuck it.
If its the 2nd answer, say hell yes

Okay, so as some of you may know, I'm home schooled and have been for a little over a year. I've enjoyed it much more than regular school and I plan on sticking with it until I get a job or go to college or whatever. But today, I got a letter.

The letter is from a group that I've never heard of called People to People. The letter mentions me and uses my real name and it says they know I'm home schooled and (obviously) where I live so its not just some random crap thats sent to just whoever lives at the current house. The letter was talking about becoming an exchange student.

I didn't think thats how you become an exchange student, but whatever. It says, and I'm quoting this, "To the parents of Julian King, Julian is invited to travel and study in Australia in the summer of 2010...All students must be invited annually, so we are pleased to offer Julian this once in a life time opportunity to travel on a 2010 program."

I don't know why I got this.

So my question is, what do my fellow Escapists make of it? I have no idea what to make of it. I'm not 100% convinced that this is for real. Although I have always wanted to go to Australia.

So what do you guys think?
It's legit. Just this past summer I went on a trip to Australia/New Zealand done through a company called EF Tours. While we were there we ran into a few People to People groups. I'd heard of them before, too. Look them up if you want, I'm not sure how different their stuff is from my EF Tours trip but it should still be fun. Australia is a cool country.

I dont trust anyone. Time to investigate People to People.

Im betting that it is part of the sex slavery trade
Where were THOSE kind of exchange student offers when I was in high school? I'd have joined an international gigolo service when I was 18.

Hell, I'd do it now.

A five second google search spawned this: http://www.peopletopeople.com/Pages/default.aspx

I've heard of them before, they're legit. However! make sure it really is that organization and not someone imitating them to nab you for slavery >.> Does it have that logo? Call the number from the website, or email them questioning whether they sent you that invitation. If they did... go for it!

Sadly, the chances of hot women buying you as a sexual slave is astronomically low.

Think more along the lines of Numa Numa guy.

Aren't you on government list if your home schooled? If so, that's where they'll have gotten your information from.

It is quite real, you got it because someone recommended you for it. I was invited a few years back to go to the UK and Ireland but couldn't go due to lack of money. My friend actually went to Japan over the summer as part of this prgram.

Check to see if it's legit first. though about 100 other people have already said this, but if you don't mind being away from your family and friends, then go ahead. If you're not prepared, you will miss them immensely. choose wisely, it will look good on your CV.

Investigate it and if you its legit, do it. We'd be happy to have you, unless you're an American, Canadian, Pom, New Zealander... Okay you can come down even if you are.
Why not canadians?

I am the only person who hates traveling? Everything I could ever want is here in Seattle, WA, USA.
I like traveling, but only with people I know, which is why I don't think I'm gonna go to this.

In Australia with a bunch of people i don't know, with no videogames, and not knowing the place I'm going or these people who sent me this? No thanks.

research the organisation that sent it to you and contact them and confirm that its for real and that you are on their list... or just look into them and see if its legit...
