Well it all depends on what she likes or dislikes, can't really give gift advice without knowing anything about the person, and as for stories I always ask my family what they want so there isn't any disappointment, boring I know but it alleviates gift purchasing stress.

[sup]This isn't directed at the OP but what is with all the girlfriend threads?[/sup]

Ironically, that's exactly what I did one year back in high school. I was a real wood-carving nerd and so I carved her a really cute teddy bear wood carving about 6 inches high. She was INCREDIBLY happy at that. Like, to the point where she almost bear hugged (again, irony) me 'til I suffocated...

I got my girlfriend...

The Complete Black Adder Collection
The Hogfather DVD
The London Cast Recording of Les Miserables
The Tales of Beedle The Bard
A Box of Thortons Toffee
and $100 towards a new Mac Laptop.

She will love them.

Last year I had a bit of a fiasco involving her gift, I bought her an Ipod but I had to sneak out to do it, she got really mad that I was out galavanting when we had plans so I stormed upstairs and stormed back down, slamming her gift on the table and saying...

"There, Merry Christmas"

It was awkward.

how has this thread gone on 7 replies without the mention of "your dick in a box"?

I was tempted to suggest Anal, but it's close...

I'd say the best thing to get a loved one for the holidays is their very own plush Cthulhu. Nothing says "happy dead savior on a stick day" quite like a superior deity of immense and immeasurable evil, in PLUSH form.
Those exist!?
I must have one

Well there has been only one Christmas when I had a girlfriend to get anything for, but on that one I stopped in the mall before I returned home and got her a really expensive box of chocolates (Like more expensive than Pot of Gold), and she was really happy. Of course, I had the kind of girlfriend who actually got me a video game for Christmas, so she probably would have been happy with anything.

This. On all counts. I guess girls are the new 'religion thread'.

Jewellery, games, musical instruments, plushes,'marital aids', accessories, music, chocolate, holiday, male escort, perfume...not very helpful without more detail, you see.

Hang on I forgot about the stories part.
My boyfriend did the horrible-unintentional-gift-of-guilt thing last year. I had little money, having been living in France and spending my money on rent and fights, so we agreed not to go overboard on gifts. I got him a silly toy and a number of books. Which he was happy with. He got me a new pink DS lite with two games. I was happy, but yet I felt very guilty that he'd spent nearly twice as much on me as I had on him.

My boyrfriend is getting me a 360! I'm stoked. But it depends on the kindof person she is really. For me a book, a game or anything Doctor Who is a delightful choice.

Just tell her it's the thought that counts, and that you thought of getting her a present.
Actually, don't.
