The traps in Dragon Age where you hit a wire and there is an explosion of fire and doom. Except it doesn't do anything apart from knock you down.
I'm always getting knocked down by those. I'm always too into the game.

funneh.. my character never gets knocked down.. even fighting a dragon on nightmare doesn't knock him down... maybe its my 92 physical Resistance stat.... or it might be just luck =)

From DnD: Doorknob smeared with contact poison. The nastier the poison, the better. It's so batshit insane that no one ever expects it.

Can you tell I DM?

Those invisible fucking mines Half-Life. Or those damn ninja-midjet-chicks.

Speaking of which, those ninja-midjet-chicks are completely random and out of place. Anyone else with me?

Bear traps because i never look out for them
Except I can't stop teabagging them.
Teabagging a bear trap sounds like a great way to lose your organ.
Ot: i get stuck in places where it seems like it should be impossible to move foward, when really, there's a simple solution that I'm not thinking about. Like the giant-piston room in portal. I died like 10 times in there screaming "what the hell! i can't put a portal up there". the solution "go higher up you moron"

This and spikes. THEY FALL UP! *breaks in to tears*

IWTBTG has only added to my fear of spikes in videogames. Megaman started it and playing IWTBTG and IWTBTF made me fear intant death spikes.

Funny everyone mentions Dragon Age. I've never had a big problem with the majority of traps in that game, but then again as a rogue you ought to spot them first. There was one trap in particular my cunning rogue senses could not protect me from though, it's in The Pearl.

That's one fucking huge trap.

I wouldn't be surprised if it even caused me several injuries.

Technically not a trap but in Versus mode in L4D2 I always seem to run into Boomers in obvious places

Do you know those "valve chambers" where you have to memorize the sequence in which steam/electrical charges/other bs is released? I'm really, really bad at that. I have to take as many health packs as I can, or if those don't exist in the game, hope for a stroke of luck.

There are a lot of terrible traps in this thread. I think as you all deserve a reward for dodging them thus far.

Anything in IWBTG, really. But those goddamn things...

OT: Missile expansion packs in an otherwise empty room in Cave Story. "Nothing here, ooh look! A treasure chest!" "You got 5 more missiles!" *A boss appears out of nowhere* "OH SHIT!"

Every time...
Heheh both of these. And insta-kill spikes in most games. And mimics. But really with the mimics, I always guess if a chest could be a mimic, and if I forget to do so...guess what happens next.

The wire traps... OH, THE WIRE TRAPS!!!
...so thin and sneaky...
Also, a trap that surprises me.
These launch me in a state of panic, leading me to jump, falling into a pit/another trap/enemy/monster/bomb/obstacle/etc...

The few characters that I made and survived that hell-hole still have nightmares about that place.

Hmm...
I also tend to fall for the "Elric of Melnibone" or "Stormbringer" trap... just read the books and you'll get it.

But in all seriousness, timed jumping puzzles are thing that I normally hate. It can often be hard to see where your character is going to land, which results in SPLAT! INSTA-DEATH.
Why did people ever think Bridget was actually female? Nothing about his face looks feminine!

In Fallout 3 when you step on a button and a FUCKING SHOTGUN SHOOTS YOU IN THE FACE.
The first time that happened I literally jumped out of my seat.
Also in Fallout 3, those baby carriages that are actually bombs. That is some scary shit.
