Pretty simple, what invention, world changing, trivial, what-have-you, was invented in the country you call home?

I'll go first.

America- Airplane, bifocals, tumbler lock (I believe).

EDIT: LISTS DON'T COUNT SLACKERS!!!

EDIT2: Alright, there has been a lot a feedback, thank you guys for that, however a lot of things have been contested, rather than stating where something was invented, we will now use the natioality of the inventor, now shut the fuck up about the telephone! I removed it, so quite telling me about it.

EDIT3: The first machine gun was not invented by the germans, it was invented by Hiram Maxim, an American born British gunsmith. A machine gun is defined by three things, it is self powered (you hold the trigger it keeps shooting), fires a rifle round (SMGs and MPs don't count), and uses an ammo belt or high capacity magazine, the Maxim machine gun is the first gun to fit this bill, so the machine gun goes to the British.

We did invent everything, but I felt I should leave everything else for other people to post ;)

I know that, I was joking as well, in hind-sight though I should have added a smiley face or jk or something.

America-Cars. Without them i'd... probably enjoy my life more most likely. Wouldn't have to deal with those douchebags who drive around with their windows down and rap music at full volume for one thing.

Pick a time, any time:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_United_States_inventions

Although saying America invented everything is getting boring. So native Americans genetically hybirdized maize. and really decent tobacco.

Eh, I'll take the good with the bad.

also, they (we, whatever I'm of its descent so I get as much right to say "we" and include myself as others did), invented this stuff: http://inventors.about.com/od/famousinventions/a/Native_American.htm

Though I think the only vastly important thing on that list was a moccasin. And lacrosse.

Lists don't count! From the depths of your memories, pick something invented in your country!

The Instant-Replay.
Hockey Night in Canada used wet-film reshowings before commercial breaks of significant or interesting plays (such as goals, fights, awesome plays or penalties) in the 1950s. They caught on very quickly.

I'm really hoping you go off on the other person that put a list. Besides, who's to say a list doesnt count? you never said they couldnt in the original post.
