Sonic 2 or 1 on the Genesis, at a friend's house where his parents babysat me.
I went there every Monday, and it was gold.

A Putt-Putt game, I forgot which installment. We'll go with "Goes to the Moon" for convenience.

As for non-edutainment games, Pokemon Yellow.

I know it was either the orignal Zelda or the original Contra for the NES. It was one or the other.

First game was Pokemon Yellow. My first console game was Super Smash Bros for the N64. It took me forever to convince my parents to let me have a gaming system, but once I had it I was hooked.

Can't remember exactly but the first few I remember are
- Fantastic World Dizzy
- Wolfenstein 3d
- Prince of Persia
- Commander Keen
- Catacombs of Abyss
- Duke Nukem

I can't remember the first, but I think it was Prince of Persia.
First game I completed was Wolfenstein. :)

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Mega Drive

The cartridge, box and instructions are in surprisingly good shape, even after 15 years.

God... Tekken in an Arcade when they still had those. I may be 16, but my parents were gamers so I've kind of been playing for years.

Be damned if I can remember. The earliest computer games I can remember playing are like Oregon Trail and Cross Country Canada, but I know those weren't the first.

Erm....

Back in the mists of time, I remember playing a game called 3D Monster Maze on my Sinclair ZX81. You had to have upgraded your ZX81 from it's standard 1k of RAM up to a dizzy height of 16k in order to make it work!

First "console" game was a knock-off version of Pong. No idea what the console was called, but it had three modes; Squash, Tennis and 2 player tennis. Controllers were clunky black paddles with a rotary dial to move your "bat" (read: rectangular blob)

Super Mario Bros on the NES. I grew up on Mario, which is why I was a Nintendo fanboy until the Wii hit. Believe it or not, the game that introduced me to RPGs was Super Mario RPG for the SNES. This just goes to show that I have fond memories of the Italian plumber who put Nintendo on the map. Even though Nintendo's shift towards casual gaming has caused them to lose support from the hardcore crowd, I'm still excited for New Super Mario Bros Wii. I'll have to be careful who I play it with, though. As I've seen from watching a session some friends of mine were playing, some people are less concerned about getting through the game (which is significantly challenging, unlike the DS New SMB) and more concerned with sabotaging the other players.

When it comes to classic Mario, I personally prefer single-player or co-op rather than competitive play.

Computer game = PC game
Video game = Console game

With that said, my first computer game was probably Reader Rabbit (yes, I remember that far back). The first computer game that I played which wasn't boring as hell was Commander Keen.
