Hear hear!

America... I am your father!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Do we eventually have our father save us from the Emperor, only for him to die ?
That would suck.

Also being so terribly afraid of socialism, despite the fact that if it were properly put into practice it would reflect the aforementioned virtues of freedom, liberty, justice etc.
Perfect laissez-faire is essentially like perfect socialism except people own stuff.

Well you gotta admit that there is much similarity on both ideas when taken to absolute extreme.

Electing George W. Bush into office.
Close but the worst was doing it again.
Whats the W stand for again? Ive been calling him wanker for so long I don't even know what its supposed to be.
But yeah, electing him twice was absolutely STUPID.

I have to say I love all these "electing Bush" comments. What, so electing a guy you hate was worse than the virtual genocide of an entire race of people? The Iraq War was a worse mistake than Puritans and Anglicans banding together to drive Indians off of their lands, enslave them and then work them literally to death? The Patriot Act > Giving smallpox blankets to Indians?

Pick up a history book once in a while. Even the recent "bad" things you all are ranting about are positively sunny and flowery by comparison to the stuff that happened in the 1600-1700s.

I'll say it again: The Western Expansion. Period. There IS no other answer. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Backing Great Britain and France in World War I, only to get fucked in the treaty negotiations by vengeful leaders who couldn't see that punishing the defeated would do more harm than good.

90% of the world's problems since 1920 can be traced back to that god-forsaken treaty negotiation.

The Wiemar Republic
The Rise of the Nazis
Hitler
World War 2
The Cold War
Korea
Vietnam
The ongoing Israel/Palestine conflict
Nuclear Proliferation
The Red Scare
The Russia-Afghanistan war
The Rise of Osama bin Laden
The collapse of the Soviet Union
Political upheavals in former Soviet states
Lax security with former Soviet warheads
Proliferation of former Soviet weapons by hundreds of countries

Just to name a few.

USA has been safeguarding democracy for a long time now (granted sometimes with questionable methods) and a world without superpower is a world that cant keep status quo so weaker USA would have propably been worse for us all. Considering how many less problems there are with less nation states around, it saddends me that manifest destiny could nevet get Canada and Mexico annexed. Dissolution of USCA was also one of the major losses in the 19th century.

Agree. And now I think about it- I'm sorry Dele, I overreacted. I assumed you were simply jumping on the bandwagon to push pure laissez-faire, but I will agree with the points of:

-Both are extreme.
-In their extremity, both find similarity.
-Both are unworkable.

/fixed,

this guy singlehandedly tore the US apart, alienated the US from the world and spent all it's money. it's like a tenant you let live in your house (in this case a big white one) and they trash the yard in this case being the US

On the downside, then Britain would become an insanely fascist world dictator and subject Japan to dehumanizing possession, resulting in one of the princes becoming an insurgent and terrorist to- ...Wait, I think I'm channeling Code Geass. As you were.

Cession from England. Britan needed to last longer.
So.. England = Britain?
I honestly meant I prefered the British Empire over just plain United Kingdoms. I think England could've ran American that it has done on it's own. And who knows, history may've been epicly different, on many fronts.

I have no idea what Code Geass is, I am simply weeping for the glory that might have been.

Why you foolish colonists? Why? We really could have taken it all...with america to use as an industrial base we would have been unstoppable, the whole world would fall to our conquering legions, no one would have the strength to stand against us, their cities would be reduced to piles of rubble and corpses, all civilian dissent brutally crushed by our roving terror squads, the rivers flow red with the blood of all who opposed us, the bones used to build monuments to our evil, our reign of terror...er...I mean we would be totally nice to everyone, a benevolent dicta...single party state. You people have nothing to worry about...come on, come back to mommy, what do you say? It'll be fun, we'll have scones with jam and clotted cream.

On the dollar bill instead of 'In God We Trust' it should say 'Enslaved By Debt'
Yes Zeitgeist Anyone?
Yeah i thought about making a thread about it but there already is one. It has some interesting points but some of it is a little bit tinfoil-hat.

Pissing yourself every time someone says ''socialism'' and thinking that obama will turn the US into the new USSR. I mean, how much fox have you been watching? He's not THAT bad, not exactly the best of all the US presidents but still, he's probably going to clean up some of the shit george religious fanatic bush left behind. He's alredy lifted the limitations bush left on stem cell resarch and the law that allows hospitals to refuse making abortions.
