I remember my earliest ones being Astro Boy and Kimba the white Lion. Others I remember afterwards are Pokemon, Dragonball Z and Neon Genesis Evangelion (my favourite anime, first saw it when I was six).

Saw a channel on Sky one day which featured anime (even though it showed only 2 friggin' shows) so I went in and gave it a whirl.
Watched it until the finale and watched it all over again because I started up in the middle of the series (The episode where Ed shows up).

And before anyone asks. NO, this channel does not exist anymore and anime is extinct on Sky TV.
