Mann.... As far back as i can remember it was probably something along the lines of Sailor Moon..

Or maybe Voltron if you could consider Voltron a Anime...

But when i started to GET INTO anime and actually develop a taste for it and opinions about it..

It was probably Rurouni Kenshin and Pokemon.

Which then i later graduated onto stuff like FLCL/Monster/Bakemonogatari/Heroman/One Piece/Whatever other good anime i didnt include... You know the good stuff! Except for maybe One Piece that one is debatable..

Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex
It wasn't even that long ago, just a few months or so. Directly followed up with Cowboy Bebop. Afterwards I did not find much that was worth watching.
Yeah, of course I also watched a few episodes of Pokemon back when I was a child, but I didn't even know it was anime back then and to be honest.

Edit: Wait, now that I think about it, there were a few Japanes/German co-productions of animated children's TV series. I don't think those would qualify as anime though.

Vandread. Followed by Elfen Lied and GTO!

After those, I've been watching for some 9 years now...

Pokemon, or possibly Sailor Moon, when I was a kid. A couple years ago I watched a few episodes of Bleach and Naruto on TV sometimes. The first anime I seriously watched was Revolutionary Girl Utena.

GOTTA CATCH EM A- *Shot*

Actually that isn't true at all.

In fact my parents tell me I was an early bloomer and took great pleasure in watching Akira at aged 4 (Not that I can remember) So there we go.

We strike with unrelenting opinions, stealthy, in the night, we strike. Wordlessly crying as one, all a different answer, all the same mediocre text. We are all unheard, simply...creating a number.

Wow that was grim. Time for webcomics.

Well, I grew up with Voltron. However, the first one I sat down with with the intention of watching an anime would be Robotech or Vash the Stampeed.

The first one I remember watching was pokemon, though I know I saw sailor moon before that (i just don't remember anything about it). That was before I knew what anime was. My friend told me what anime was and he introduced me to Inuyasha.

lucky you, I feel like an old guy now

My first was Tenchi Muyo
and I got in to Dragon Ball Z before I finished Tenchi

this was back in the day when they ran back to back on Toonami
why did that show go away

I was going to say Pokémon, because that's the one that immediately came to my mind. But, after thinking about it really hard, I figure my first anime was Speed Racer. I loved that show for a long time, I guess because it was playing on TV when I was pretty young.

Voltron before I knew what the genre was. I into the genre as I know it now watching Iria: Zeiram the Animation and others on Sci-fi channel back in middle school when they did an anime block for a week during the summer.

I forget. I remember a bunch of the shows that were on Toonami. Dragon ball Z, outlaw star, Hyroni Kenshin, etc. Loved those shows
