I don't remember the SNES having ratings for it's games the way that Sega voluntarily did. As a matter of fact, I don't even remember the ESRB existing around the time of Mortal Kombat.

I can't remember, my dad never cared. Earliest I can think of from him was Gun when I was 10? My mum, Bioshock 2 recently now I'm 15 =D

EDIT: I remember playing GTA 3 at my Aunts house, dad didn't care but I've never owned it, does that count?

Same, only I got a trilogy pack thing. I was around ten.
The fact that a ten year old was playing GTA Vice City makes me really, really hate modern society.
Let them have there fun with it, I had my fun and you probably did too.
No, I hate everything about Rockstar. Their games are terrible. The complete antithesis to what I find enjoyable.

When I turned 16, I saw an obscure ps1 game for sale cheap in a bin and it caught my eye. It was the lesser known survival horror game 'Clock Tower'. It actually scared me playing my first horror game and I've became fan of the horror genre of games such as Silent Hill and Fatal Frame.

Then, why not let them play it?
I'm not stopping them. I'm not their parents.

I just think that letting a ten year old play Grand Theft Auto speaks volumes about one's ability to be a good parent.

SOCOM 3 for the PS2. Why it was rated M, I don't know. My first REAL M-rated game would be Prototype for Xbox 360.

When I was 10 I'm preeeeetty sure that I knew just because I could kill people in a game doesn't mean it is in real life. It's the ones who know who play it.
There are many people out there who also believe that FOX is a legitimate news source with a high degree of journalistic integrity. Millions of people also watch reality television and actually care about celebrity gossip.

What I'm trying to say is: people are not that intelligent and while violent games don't make killers, is there any legitimate reason why a ten year old child should be exposed to that subject matter?
