The servers collapse, reset and all will be lost! Chaos! Panic! Anarchy!
Ah, I can't await the day...

Strikes me that we wouldn't need so many topics if more people were having actually conversations rather than bashing out a reply, never reading or replying to other people's points, not taking part in any kind of debate.
So... how do you suppose one could assert that? Because starting a thread about it will most likely result in a "agreed" and "you can't do that, I'll tell mommy!" flood.
I think the day people start having conversations in a thread is the day Lenin rises from the dead to lead humanity into a new era of perfect communism. Of course I'm not against this, I'm just trying to converse.

what would happen why Real wrath of God type stuff! Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!
Forty years of darkness, earthquakes, and volcanos
The dead rising from the grave!
Human sacrifices, dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!

Little bit more optimistic about the stupidity of humans, there will always be some new situation to discuss.
I'm cautiously hopeful that you're right. If nothing else, we can always discuss the sudden lack of new threads, or reminisce about old favourites.

And remember, after a month, it doesn't count as a repeat thread!

I just think that it would be nice if people remembered a little more how to communicate with each other. I look at a lot of the topics in this off-topic area and they are just graveyards where you can tag on a thought or idea that people don't seem to read just to pad post counts

And then I go back to Religion/Politics or Games and ignore this bit for another week or so. I think it's a damned shame, I see some interesting people with interesting ideas and lots and lots of tumbleweeds.

Could just be my perception of course, I concede that point immediately.

It just amused me to see a topic about what happens when we might have to stop posting/communicating via the board...when it seems that we don't really start.

Honestly, with all the repeat threads and list threads that have been popping up lately, I have a feeling that this has already happened.

That day will come on Dec 12, 2012.
So we'll sit around bored for 9 days then the world will end?
Or people will go psycho from the lack of mental stimulation and cause the end of the world. "Repetitive thinking is a graveyard for the mind"...I don't remember where I heard that quote or if it's correct but you get the idea. BTW, I don't put faith in the whole "2012" bit, I meant that as a joke before anybody tries to correct me.

Despite the fact it can't possibly happen, I'd move to 4chan for a day, then kill myself because of the horrors I'd seen.
Trust me, no matter how bad it gets, 4chan still isn't the answer. It's not worth it! Don't jump! DON'T JUMP!

You realise that anyone reading that post will feel morally obligated to quote more often, thereby attempting to create conversation, right? That's not a bad thing, but think how many quote messages you personally will get from this thread... I wouldn't want to filter through them.

Oh, and there still hasn't been a thread entitled
"What video game character riding what mythological creature would you most like to have on your side during the zombie apocalypse whilst a hurricane is going on and you're on fire? And what pokemon would you have at that point?",
so I think we're fine for thread topics for a while yet. (If anyone makes that thread and I see it, I will cry. Also, Alex Mercer riding on the back of a dragon. And Blastoise.)

We'll just do this

"How are you?"
"I'm Fine"
"Cool"
"How are YOU?"
"I'm pretty swell"
"That's nice"
"Yeah...it is!"
"..."
"..."
"..."
"...Nice weather we're having, huh?"
"Yeah...it's okay..."
"...Yeah..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Well, see you tommorrow"
"Bye!"

*Next day*

"How are you?"
"I'm-" etc.

As long as humanity does and says stupid things, there will always be topics here on the escapist.

I tried to make that thread just for the fun of it, but there's apparantly a character limit on titles...

I was going to send you the link and everything. It would have been predictably funny

I figured someone would, I just thought it would take longer than that. I'm glad to hear there's a character limit on titles though; no crying for me! Imagine if I hadn't put that pokemon question in. I'd be screwed...
