Well, I can't say I'll abandon gaming because of it but this has been pissing me off. The lack of local multiplayer in gaming recently. I don't always want to play with some anonymous pricks I don't give a toss about. I just want to play with my friends in person dammit. Seriously, Bad Company has a strong emphasis on multiplayer but no local multiplayer, Bioshock 2 could have it (It would have redeemed the whole game for me.) Aliens vs. Predator had none. Uncharted 2, Team Fortress 2, so many more I can't think of. When did playing with real people become such a taboo thing? Christ.

Pretty much my thoughts. I'm a bit of a loner when I game. I've never played online except for a couple of months on Lineage II, and that was enough to keep me off-line forever.

Although... if Versus XIII is to go multiplatform, that'd make me lose a bit of hope as well. Not because I'm a Sony fanboy (OK, I am), but because it'd be a very clear way to say 'we don't give an ass about fanbase and/or the promises we make, we just want your money and we don't care how, we WILL get it'.

That the Old Republic was actually a joke, and Bioware makes a press statement saying "Fuck you all hahahaha!"

Honestly, I would destroy every game and gaming console I could get my hands on.

If all games made us randomly flail like the Wii....so far my faith is on a cliff teetering on the edge with Playstation Move! and Xbox Kinect coming out...We can only keep hope.

If Zynga ever wins a best developer contest on this website I will quit gaming forever.
You and me both, man.

I will quit when they make headsets mandatory, and you can't mute it. God, that would be suicide.

If an FPS that caters entirely towards noobs, encourages bad habits like camping, spamming, etc., replaces tactics with charging headfirst at the enemy, and takes all the skill out of playing becomes one of the most popular video games ever made, that would probably make me lose my faith in gaming. Good thing that'll never happen, right?

OH WAIT:

If overzealous Catholics came into control of the ESRB system and banned all games that they deemed "dangerous" to the peoples' faith in God.

... I get way too riled up about some of the stupidity found in Catholisism. Just know that this is aimed at the bible-thumpers, not all Catholics.

The day that all games incorporate motion controls into the game play. Seriously, those things suck so much. You can scream "but, this is technological advancement of game play!" all you want, but, until it actually works, it still sucks, and should stay in the lab.

Or this:

the horror... the horror...

-subscription service mandatory
-draconian drm on every game
-only sequels, no new ideas
-motion controls take over

I play games to escape from reality not to simulate it. Not that simulation games are worthless, I just don't want to see a trend in that direction. Should be a niche genre.

If the PC completely died as a platform and/or the end of meaningful single-player games. I hate playing with other people, even in MMOs.
Same. I only really like playing multiplayer with the same people in the room.
Probably if Nintendo went downhill like Sega. I know the Wii motion controls are rarely good, there are some good games with it. Although I liked Nintendo a lot more when it was with the SNES and N64. Even on the Gamecube I focused more on the 3rd party stuff.

I agree with this. I find gaming to be the most fun shared with people you're actually sitting next to.

Actually, I can't lose faith in gaming.... been doing it most my life. No, I'm more inclined to lose faith in other Gamers first. Mostly attitudes towards what they think they should deserve and complain when they don't get it. Really though it's not their choice, it's the developers, which brings me to my second point of people blaming the entire company for something one development team did. Case in point, Activision really isn't all that bad, Bobby Kotick is a dick, but the rest of the company doesn't neccessarily have the same veiwpoints as him. Yet many people I have read posts from just say that Activision as a whole is evil.

I guess Blizzard is evil then too... jokingly, we know that, otherwise they wouldn't be able to taunt us for years at a time during "development" with products that they announce 3 years in advance... I'm looking at you Diablo 3. But they are still a great game developer all the same, and being under Activsions Banner never really changed that.

I agree with this, as well. When people can play games together only when they are, physically, as far away from each other as possible, something has gone horribly wrong. I miss the multi-tap days. All everyone needed was their own controller. If you want to play a game with your friends now every one of them needs their own system, game, and headset.

Gamers showing deep excitement about games which are carbon copies of each other going back way down the 90's or even before.

That's not how I envisioned the future of games nor the inteligence of future gamers.

Either I lose my faith or just imagine that this future is yet to come. I prefer to study like crazy to make sure that it arrives.

If it turned out playing videogames gave you cancer of the arse.

Also, motion-controls and cloud-based gaming becoming the standard (which would then give you cancer of the arse)

Gaming becoming as popular as shitty music has been since 2000.

So many posers making so many shitty levels...
