With my new found moderating powers I would grow to be three hundred feet tall and proceed to destroy New York City with my radioactive laser moderating eye-beams!

*GRRRAAAWWW!!!*

*PEW PEW PEW!*

*BOOM!*

...

Really though I'd probably not really do much of anything besides post like normal. Maybe ban the occasional troll is all.

I would remove the anonymity of the mods in dishing out suspensions, and be incredibly sarcastic with my replies.

When I was a mod on another site my favourite thing to do was to change the names of the users who had been naughty to something they hated, being a music site I would change the name of lets say "HouseLover" to "I_Love_Ja_Rule" for a week.

I would lock vs, politics, over rated and 'why the hate' threads instantly and without mercy. I'd also lock repeat threads and provide links to the originals, five identi threads in a week is annoying.

Beyond that, probably not a lot, I'd refer bans to someone else my because my instinct is to ban everyone in case they get pissy later on.

Pretty much the same as I do now? Except then I could help to cure some of the rubbish one here rather than just reporting it.

What would you do if given the power to mod? Create the bansword, now with twice the power of the banhammer.
Labryinth already has that, she also has the Banmop, combined to create The BanSmop!

OT: Eh. I think I'd be like Good Cop...

I would be the worst mod ever, it would be like "[after not logging on for a week] Shouldn't I be doing something?... Ah, fuck it."

Any console vs pc threads would immediately get perma-banned.
Also any Halo sucks threads.

They never attract intelligent debate, merely hatred and bile.

Also, any original posts which don't have at least some semblance of good grammer would be put on probation.
Oh and i would block you, the reader. Ha!

I'd cut down on any offensive posts I do now, and probably keep a little spreadsheet where I note repeat offenders and such. I reckon I'd be fair.
I tend to think that no moderator should ever change their posting style, on the whole. If the community runners deemed you good enough to become a moderator despite any possible blackmarks then its all cool. Moderators should be chosen because they contribute well enough that they push the community along in a positive direction in any case, and can do so even better with mod status - requesting that they cut out some habits (like being offensive) seems kind of counterproductive to this.
This was a hypothetical "if you were a moderator" thread.

It's not like I'm applying for the post.

Ban that guy Furburt.

He's a liability to this site.
Stop referring to yourself in the third-person.

[sup][sup]Jeese, Jaranja would never do that[/sup][/sup]

I would Insta-Ban trolls without mercy (as a mod, I guess my word would be law, so why not?)

Indeed, I agree with this guy.

Furburt has a post count of over 10000 now, he needs a break from this site. :p

I'd be rubbish. I'd give warnings and probations to people with bad grammar, or people who ever, EVER use the terms, "lol", "tl;dr", "stfu/gtfo", "rofl/lmao (and its affiliates)" and any other crap internet slang.

Anybody who uses a number or symbol in place of a letter would be suspended, and if I genuinely cannot read your post then it would likely be a prolonged suspension.

Apart from some serious quality control, (I'd ban idiots no matter if they offended anyone or not) I'd be just a harsh mod. Fair if tough at times, but then really unfair when it came to banning idiots. Plus I'd invent an "anti-ban" which would actually force my favourite users to post if they stopped. (See my favourite users from last New Year backwards)

I know I'm just a weird geek when it comes to discussing moderation :(
