Here is a hint. Dont get a 360, this is going to be the 360s worst year, with no decent exclusives, the only one really being Alan Wake, and that is coming to PC any way, get a PS3, as some one who owns both, I am glad i got mine, this will truly be an awesome year for the PS3
The person is interested in already released games 2 of which are 360 Exclusive. Take your fanboy ways elsewhere. OP wants a 360, there is no mention of PS3. Now stop trying to start flamewars.
Yeah. And in some countries, PS3 costs as much as a good gaming PC. And almost twice as much as an Xbox 360.
You can stop as well. NO MORE FLAMEWARS!

Which would mean it is not an exclusive, no?

As for people asking the difference between a standard and an elite, the elite has a slightly higher set of processor clocks, which apparently makes the games run smoother at "HD" resolutions.

That and an expanded hard drive, and I think it also has built in HDMI (but I have not bothered to check).

The expanded hard drive is eh, you can buy one if you really need it. If you are not going "HD" then get the middle of the road one.

Buy the Standard/Elite.

Buy the Arcade and sooner or later you will probably end up buying a Hard drive, ethernet cable and HDMI cable (maybe) at which point you will realise it would have been cheaper just to buy the Standard/Elite in the first place.

The middle option. The hard drive isn't mandatory but it will save you a future investment (or a lot of annoyances). The Elite is a sucker's model as far as I'm concerned, but if you REALLY have a need for that much hard drive space, then go for it.

Honestly, if the 360 was more reliable I dont think they would sell the arcade.

I recently bought an arcade because my 360 pro got the black screen of death. I took my old harddrive and put it on the arcade.

You need a harddrive.

I do expect to get more than 2 years life out of a console.

As far as the guy saying there are few exclusives coming up, what about tekken 6? When I saw the trailer a little bit of wee came out...

What's the big deal with exclusives? Especially if you own both systems. BTW, when was The Lost and Damned released? This year? And it's outsold Killzone 2. that blows your argument out of the water.

If the OP is thinking about buying the Arcade 360, he probably doesn't have the kind of cash to spend on a PS3 at the moment either.

OP. As has been said by other posters, a 360 would be a sound investment, but I would also suggest the standard version, with the basic hard drive.

Remember that if you want to play with other people, you're gonna need another controller, which is going to cost ya. Also, if you want to play online, that's gonna cost you too.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the standard version of the 360 comes with a HDMI socket these days, but you'll probably have to buy a HDMI cable for it.

Deciding to buy a 360 gives you access to a greater selection of platinum games, and new release games are often a bit cheaper on the 360 than the PS3.

I have both the 360 and PS3. They're both awesome machines, but for someone with limited resources, I'd definitely recommend the 360 for best value for money.

If you can get an elite with one with one or two games for the same price as a 'normal' elite, get that. If you can't, get the standard(white, cheaper) version.

I would suggest the middle of the road as well. The Arcade is fine if you buy a 500mb memory card and don't plan on using your xbox for more then a few games, and no other multimedia. I can only suggest the elite if you really want to download lots of movies, because with the addition of the HDMI cable on all new Xboxs, and the improvements of the jasper, the Elite just has more space and looks cool.

So for all practical purposes go with the premium (the one with the hard drive but is not black) because it will give you some breathing room for media, installs and game saves.

Helpful aside: If you can try and research how to pick out a jasper(its a new xbox design model), apparently they're better/more reliable.

for games I would suggest
Bioshock,
Mass effect,
dead rising(because its fun and cheap),
L4D(if you have friends online),
gears of war(both 1 and 2)
Ninja gaiden

Have you gotten 1000/1000 in it yet?
Ive got about 800+. Im not big on gamer score, it feels a bit like online cock measuring to me. I did get the expansion which I think has extra achievements.

Yeah me to. I can't wait until part 2 >_<
Do you play on PC or 360? Ive heard roumors that there is mor DLC to come before 2 arrives. A good excuse for another run through.

I play on the 360. Yeah I heard that more DLC is on the way but they said they won't have to do with the main story that much. I also agree with you on that whole gamer score thing.
