I refer to most of my friends by their nicknames or refer to them as buddies. In turn, most people call me by an abbreviated version of my name.

Never really found a need to use those. I just say their name if I need to get their attention.

It does annoy me when people call me bro, dude, or mate. I don't why, it just does.

I watched a lot of western movies as a child, particularly John Wayne, though I thought "Pilgrim" was a little out of place. Also, I call people "Chief" at my work.

Dude, mate or pall, generally. Though there's one guy I knew who was named Dominique. That quickly transformed into Hominique and then Homie.

I've been known to call almost everyone "dude" at one point or another, completely without regard to gender. My boyfriend, my female friends, my mom...Doesn't matter.

My roommate and I also make a habit of calling each other "*****," "whore," "skank" and the like--out of love, I swear.

And, of course, I give nicknames to pretty much everybody.

I usually use dude, sometimes man, even with my girlfriends. Usually when a friend's upset I'll use honey or sweetheart, and sometimes when I'm feeling cheeky I use something like champ or skip.
