Although there were some exceptions with "Halo" or "Goldeneye" in the title, I didn't care much for shooters. However, with Bioshock, Painkiller, and with the addition of role-playing elements to form the "RPS," I'm starting to like a lot more of them and I'm really looking forward to Bulletstorm, Vanquish, and--new to me--my first playthrough of Deus Ex! Also, I will be playing through some PC valve shooters...maybe with a mouse and keyboard, I'll finally get into Half-Life.

Also, Sports games. I liked the original NBA Jam on my SNES, and renting the ocasional Nintendo sports title (and buying Mario Kart, of course...are racing games considered sports games?) I never cared for the realistic sim type, such as Madden...but with EA remaking NBA Jam (Hells yeah!!!) and Nintendo releasing a collection of Mario Sports games, instead of one at a time (which is what always stopped me from buying a few of them, like Hoops and Tenis), I'm looking forward to some over-the-top action that kind of resembles sports. I should probably give "Punch Out!" a try, since it's a reborn classic and all....
Also...Mario Sports Mix has Beach Hockey...with explosions. And that's pretty awesome.

Fighters. I just never really got into them...except for Smash Bros. What can I say, I'm a Nintendo Nerd. I just love the spin they put on each genre they dip their franchises into. Take Smash Bros. for example...replacing combos with some light platforming, and allowing up to four players? No health bars, allowing you to use the stage to your advantage to keep yourself away from cliffs? For some reason, I liked these ideas better.
Recently, we picked up Tatsonoku vs. Capcom...and this may be what convinces me to get into more "classic" style fighters. My brother has the 360 version of Street Fighter 4, so I may have to get him to show me the ropes.

i never used to like any racing game, then one day i was at block busters and there was litrally nothing good there. expt grand torismo... knowing i was going to be bored stiff otherwise i took it. at first i was pissed i couldnt make my cars look all kl and customized but then i found my self spending hours trying to pin a corner, and then getting the greatest sense of satisfaction when i found the perfict tecnique for it, ever since relistic racers and me are in love ;)

Turn based JRPGs.

I'm fan with JRPGs, it's just the turn based aspect of it that I can't ever get into until I played FFX.

Then I liked it, but sadly, I've yet to play another turn based game I actually liked.

I didn't like FPS games til I played TF2. Now I'm at least a little more open to them, even if I'm still not very good (I'm sorry but FPSs on console have really confusing controls, I usually end up strafing everywhere looking at the sky).

Racing. I mean just regular racing, no explosions or powerups. I hated it, but actually liked one of the ones I recently played. Forza 2 was interesting in my opinion.

I'm thinking of trying some FPSes. I have advanced ADD. slow reflexes, & the graphics distract the hell out of me, but I think it could be theraputic & maybe even teach me to focus a little. Try something in a forresty or tropical setting with some really funny game glitches, like Crysis.

Play Metro 2033. Get it today. Very pretty, very atmospheric, will teach to either A) Conserve Ammo and look everywhere for lootable bodies or B) get really good with the Throwing Knives.
::Looks up screencaps:: It looks like one of those shooters that only comes in shades of brown & grey.
Yes, it's a bit monocromatic, but when your game is about surviving in post-apocolptic Moscow's metro system, Rainbows and butterflies aren't exactly to be expected. The lighting effects that DO happen during the game (radiation fungus, Anomolies, sunlight, moonlight, ect) are all done very well. The surface world isn't too much better (lots of snow and ruins) but it's all presented quite beautifully. Not to mention the "Surrealism Flashes".

Ages ago, shooting games seemed like an enemy to me.
This was in the previous generation, when there was a lot less shooting games and everything was more platform based.
But then FPS's stole the show, so I thought I'd have to start somewhere. Since I like Naughty Dog's stuff, I started with Uncharted. Thought it was pretty good.
Then I found out about TF2.
And the rest was history.

That said, the Ratchet and Clank games, to this day, still fail to disappoint in platforming goodness.

I didn't like point-and-click adventure games until I played the Longest Journey. I used to think they were really tedious and boring, especially after you clicked everything in the goddamn room just to find something that seemed useless but then it turned out that you really needed it afterwards. But the Longest Journey had a really engaging protagonist, some of the puzzles were actually kind of fun, and I found myself wanting to move forward in the game. Until I hit a glitch.

FPS, thanks to borderlands and L4D I have really gotten into them. Then the orange box officially tied me to FPS and branded me for life.

Sandbox games, i have never really enjoyed them. Mostly because you can go where ever you like, but besides that there wasn't much to do, but then i bought Red Dead Redemption. Im still not a huge sandbox fan, but i can now see why people like them.

OT: I didn't like RTS games cause i was no good at them, but now, I like them!

As I've said before, 8 is the only other one I liked besides 10.

I hated 7.

I'm primarily interested in lush leafy greenness. It's hard to enjoy a game that looks like it's set in the same bleak desert you grew up in & were so happy to movie out of. I'm also colorblind to some shades of brown & olive green, so the monochromeness has a mindfuckery effect on the visuals.
