Harvey - not so much unpopular as it is old, this film is an absolute classic. If you've never seen it then go get it right now! It's about a man whose best friend is a 6ft invisible rabbit... hilarity and touching life lessons ensue.

Dancer In The Dark - An emotionally exhausting film. It's actually my favourite, but I've only managed to sit through it twice because of how devastated it leaves me afterward (my friends felt exactly the same way when they saw it too). Please don't let that put you off, though; few films are capable of provoking such strong human emotion.. I promise you that you wont regret watching it one bit.

Showgirls - you want an unpopular film that's so bad, you're ashamed to admit to liking it? There you go.

Pretty much what the topic title says, is there a movie that not many people have heard of that you really like to watch and sometimes you don't tell people because they might judge you? Not here! *pulls shirt collar awkwardly* But do share, I'm looking for less mainstream movies to watch :)
And my movie that I love to watch is Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. It's a kid's movie but it's ridiculously good and I love Toy Story, so win :)
Accepted

They Live. Only two of my friends have seen it, while all of my dad's friends have. They had us watch it... so funny.

Escanaba in Da Moonlight

A film based on a play written by, directed by and starring Jeff Daniels as Reuben Soady a Michigander family man known all over town as "the buckless yooper" because he never "bagged a buck" on a hunting trip and is considered bad luck. He decides that this is his year and travels to the family deer camp with his old school father Albert and deeply superstitious brother Remnar. Soon after a local legend known as The Jimmer is dropped off by aliens, everyone drinks an ancient American Indian hunting potion, prepared by Reuben's wife (complete with moose testicles), a Park Ranger swears he saw God, Reuben gets possessed, the world's greatest fart joke occurs and Reuben gets advice from his long dead Great Uncle Alphonse Soady on the true measure of a man.

An excellently weird film about guns, hunting, family values, ghosts, gods, and porcupine urine.

that sequence after 2 minutes is complete bullshit, every single guard has clear line of sight on him, and theyre guns were all at the ready, theres no way he could of killed them all before they shot him. sorry i just had to get that off my chest.

other than that though, i love this film, its the only film i like christian bale in too.
I was more concerned with the scene where the two Nazis are just standing guard inside the room seemingly unphased by the fact that 50 or so of his Nazi buddies are getting absolutely wrecked by gunfire.

Either you can't hear shit inside those helmets or they really did a good job soundproofing the door.

Bagi, the Monster of Mighty Nature.
http://www.anilinkz.com/movies-and-ova/bagi-the-monster-of-mighty-nature/

It has drama, it has comedy, it has monsters, it has conflicting central themes (genetic engineering is bad...except for the time that it created the main characters best friend),it has art and animation by Osamu Tezuka and it has a tough pink cat girl in it. What's not to love?
That it's not available on DVD, Blu-Ray or even Beta-Max in the USA, for starters.
The Sea Prince and the Fire Child is right up there with it, though. It's also in the same situation as far as DVD/Blu-Ray releases go.

At least I can get Brain Dead/Dead Alive on disc as well as Meet the Feebles so it's not a total loss as far as some of my favorite non-mainstream movies go.

Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter.

Because pretty much all the reasons to love it are right there in the title.
Except the title doesn't mention El Santo, now does it?

Me? First title that comes to mind right now that not many people I know have heard of is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I really like Michel Gondry's take on film making, as some of the stuff he does for a scene just seems way out there (forced perspective set construction instead of typical CG/Editing tricks for one), but the end product really works. Science of Sleep and Be Kind Rewind are two others I like by him too.
