Although it would be mildly hilarious to watch snake jack a car run over 18 pedestrians, go to a strip club, watch some tv and then when to cops show up he whips on his stealth suit and hes outta there in the shadows.
Wasn't there a gag about that in the mgs3 trailer?

Snake points his gun at a guy on a motorbike and yells FREEZE hold up style.

The guy on the bike looks at him and says something like "give it a rest, this is a jungle, not Grand Theft Auto" then rides off.
If snake really wanted that bike... that poor son a ***** would never have seen him coming.
indeed
all they would have heard was a cracking twig and then saw a man with a ridiculous mullet pound him into oblivion

Well...I heard it from a friend of a friend on Joystiq but regarding #1,apparently IGN had once lost it's review exclusivity because they revealed some crucial MGS2 "spoilers" like Raiden etc.

This might explain why EGM gave in and decided to keep the review rather than printing it out and ignoring Konami's threats.

Screw Metal Gear Solid 4!

After all the damn hype this game has been getting it's hard to think it won't be a disappointment. Now, MGS and MGS3 were awesome, but do you know why MGS2 was so bad? It's cutscenes were way too freaking long and the plot, in the second half at least, flies all over the place with Kojima pulling the Dues ex Machina shit by saying that "It was staged by the PATRIOTS!" in every 3rd sentence.

As for Konami censuring EGM, that's nothing new. They don't want spoilers to get out before release. Someone mentioned Raiden's premature release in this thread (He he he...premature release). They also don't want shitty game aspects to get out before release, in which case they maybe shouldn't have people review the game. Konami must have been hopping to build up further hype by giving gamers a person in authority, a reviewer, handing the game unbridled praise. That crap may have worked with Kane & Lynch, but cons to a Metal Gear title simply won't slip under the radar that easily.

I will say this: 90 minute cutscenes is an impressive feat; it pushes the evelope in terms of performance. But I also pushes my patience. Seriously, what the hell? This isn't cinematic gaming, this is watching a movie. Hopefully there won't quick time events to force you to watch them.

I think what happened right now is that they are using the hype to boost the opening day sales. It seems to be a pattern, because Halo 3 wasn't really that amazing, same old gameplay, some new weapons, and better graphics... but it wasn't really deserving of its "epic" tag.

MGS is a great series, but there hasn't been something that you can call: "major overhaul" with the game system. Graphics are nice and all, but once you peel that off, it's the gameplay that actually sucks you in.

So I'm actually going to hold my praise/flame for the day it comes out.
I would call the stealth suit a pretty big step forward and so is all the cool gadgets and moves. I'm actually thinking of getting a PS3 because this game makes me want one over any of the other games available.

O....M....F....G.... there are so many things wrong with this.

MGS4 will NOT, i repeat, NOT have 90-fucking- minute long cut scenes! This has been disproved from the people who have actually played the damn game!

Some of the reviews have said the the ration of Game play to Cinematics are half:half to Two-thirds and One-third.

The scenes are skippable, and, goddamn, even fast forwardable! (not sure about the FF option)

If you aren't prepared to watch Kojima's hard work with his game as well as play it, then don't get it.

We all know its going to sell and that its going to be good. A review is pointless for games such as MGS4 because you know your going to buy it if you liked the other ones and your not if you didnt(If you never played any MGS game then you must have been living under a rock).

Its one of the very few games that plays out like a movie which in my opinion no one has ever done successfully. It has massive amounts of story and the fact that MGS4 has 77 weapons gives me a hard on. At this point i find that its impossible for Hideo Kojima and Konami to screw MGS up because so far the series has been a complete masterpiece.

I don't care whatsoever. I have a 360 and for MGS4 I simply wish I had a PS3 or they'll make a 360 version for MGS4 "Substance3 (or however it's gonna be called.
No, they won't for the following reasons.
Konami signed an exclusivity deal with Sony
The game is too big to bring to the 360
The game uses SixaxiS as too big a part
Hideo Kojima hates the 360 - he sees it as bringing in far too many casual gamers and tailoring some of its most promising projects to the casual gamer. He sees it as destroying his artform.

If he hates the casual gamer then why the fuck is snake on SSBB which is on the Wii which is the biggest casual concole in the market ???

360 for hardcore gamers just for the on-line play though
PS3 for the rich people and fanboys
Wii for the casual gamers/5 year olds/fanboys

You sir are the biggest liar in existance

Link? I mean, of course I won't be surprised if he said that - I've heard him say something of that nature in an interview, but I just want to see this for myself.

and no it won't be too big for 360, it'll just be about 10 discs :p

Snake's debut was on the MSX and then it was ported to NES - you don't understand what the point of SSB series is do you? It's bringing franchise characters together and making them beat the crap out of each other - putting snake in SSBB doesn't make SSBB a metal gear game, Kojima just said "sure, put snake in there if you want".

360 for hardcore gamers just for the on-line play though

that could be said about ANY console

PS3 for the rich people and fanboys

Funny, that sounds like a comment a FANBOY would say

Wii for the casual gamers/5 year olds/fanboys

Yeah, it's got a very broad audience.

You sir are the biggest liar in existance

You sir, are what makes gamers look bad, and should get the hell off the escapist if you aren't even going to read the rules of the forum. Calling him a Liar when you didn't even address all of his points, and said "The PS3 is for rich people and fanboys" as if it was a fact and not just your stupid ignorant opinion; how are we going to take you seriously?
My response in bold print - and remember mr. Geffs -

Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools speak because they have to say something.

You fall into the "Fool" category.

Yeah they were trying to keep it uncompressed since Blu-Ray has 50 gb of space, but it ended up being way bigger than 50 GB so they had to compress it, and it still took up the majority of the disc.

So 5 and an eighth DL-DVD?

Yeah and I'm sure a lot of it will suck up hard drive space on the PS3 HDD since it's probably extremely compressed and will probably decompress once it's on the HDD. I expect long install time and a lot of free space being lost.

Wow. I had no idea he was such a snob. How does he feel about the Wii, I wonder?

Considering Konami lent out multiple copies of the game so early to different reviewers, I doubt its about "giving gamers a person in authority, a reviewer, handing the game unbridled praise"
