I don't really put too much stock in what happens close to release these days, unless it's something supposedly drastic, major or newsworthy (something like a last minute shortage in sales or bug in the game fits the bill). Nothing really is wrong here aside form the usual buildup, excitement, and general hysteria people are going through regarding the release of a highly anticipated game.
There's the news stories about the quirky company behavior, the sneak peek details and items behind the curtain, the wild conclusions, highly subjective reviews, and of course, forum posts that range from the overly gushing, and embarrassingly fanboyish to the "I'm too cool to like the game, so I'll be unique like thousands of other people and hate on it" stuff. Normally, I don't like making generalizations like this, but it's happened far too often with games that have huge anticipation or expectations behind them. The recent release of GTAIV is a good example.
The takeaway is simply to judge the game on your own standards and merits, not on what anyone else chooses to post.
As for me, I can't wait. I love the series' cinematic story and music, along with the mechanics, so I'm looking forward to it. Will it have flaws? Sure it will. But it's a matter of just playing it and figuring out if you really like it or not - based upon your experience.
