What's happened to music now?

I don't know if I'm the only person to think this (sure looks like I am though), but today's music mostly sucks. I mean, every rock band has a singer who sounds like he got kicked in the throat, electronic music is getting embarrassing, and I really don't need to comment on pop music haha! Also, everyone now sings about their depression, drugs, or women as toys (most of which I doubt even happened). I personally would love a Beatles-esque band to come up, but it seems like that era is gone... Am I crazy or does someone think so too???

I gave up on mainstream music years ago (roughly when MTV went from music videos to Real World...and whatever else they show). Find the music you like, internet is there, music is somewhere waiting for you. Might just find "Beatles-esque" band to your liking.

Everything in the past is still good, at least the good parts, I think its just from a general lack of imagination and creativity in the music industry
All the old bands like Pearl Jam that managed to survive are still doing what they best, except Metallica

Yeah, I do listen to independent music (Arkells, Modest Mouse, the Gaslight Anthem are a few examples), but I just don't understand how people can eat up garbage that keeps popping up like weeds only because it's what everyone else listens to

Any ways, if you look into foreign music its good. Although mainstream music does have its really goods, (dirt room) but its mostly crap (lady gaga, the transvestite) One out of every 100 songs played in mainstream in the 21st century are moderatly good to great.

Modest mouse isn't indie anymore, they are signed on epic (aka sony), and their music has really gone downhill. Sellouts.

Besides, everybody knows that Ugly Casanova is where it's at.

Also, the reason people like this mainstream shit is because it was featured on "The Hills" or some show llike that where everything is steroetypes and bleach blondes. The the dumb bitchs at home watch that bullshit and think "Ohh look (Insert *****) is living in California, listenning to Lady Gaga, Bleaching her hair blonde, and not thinking for herself, collecting any knolledge, or holding an opion! She is soo cool! I bet if I bleach my hair blonde, listen to lady Gaga, and become dumb ass fuck, I will be cool too! Yay me!!!" And then they do that, and smart guys liek us have to put up with it. Basicaly, being dumb is cool, and with dumb attitudes come dumb music.

And I'm sorry I'm being such a dick but this whole "Dumb *****" thing was bugging me today, and your thread hit the head on the nail. People need to realize that its not the music that sucks, its the people who let the shit rise to the top that suck.

PS: Congrats on your indie taste. Aside from Modest Mouse, I havn't heard of those bands, which means that they are good(or better than most).
