And also I did a survey at my school (because of course if you do it here everyone will vote ps4 and make the survey have too many variables) so I did it at my school. Where not everyone is a hardcore gamer. The results were 75% xbox one and 25%ps4 we also made them give a reason why.(also if your wondering my school is a grade7-12 school.) The most common reasons were;

xbox one because it has the kinect (most said camera thingy)

Xbox one because it has exclusive Call of duty ghosts content.

Xbox on because its better for NFL( probably becuase of the built in fantasy foot ball and stuff)

Xbox one because it has voice commands

Xbox one because it has better exculsives



Ps4 because it has little big plannet

Ps4 because It has free online (they obviously didn't know about the new ps plus)

Ps4 because it is $50 cheaper ($50 in Where I live)

Ps4 becuase It has better exculsives

Ps4 because I have all the play stations

And anyway...why do you care about this so much? It isn't your money people are spending, so what business is it of yours? As much as I love ketchup, I don't spend hours at McDonalds trying to explain to people why they should use it with their fries if they aren't. I'm not getting the Xbone because I don't want to pay the extra money for a Kinect, I'm more familiar with the Playstation controller, and the PS4 is looking to have more of the games that I want. And you coming on here and telling me or anyone else that these reasons aren't good enough is just as ridiculous as me taking those reasons and saying you're wrong for wanting the Xbone. So just stop it. You aren't changing any minds.

With all that HydroFire has had to say about the 'advantages' of an Xbox One over a PS4, I have to ask... does anyone else here smell the troll? I mean seriously. 99% of the people here are actual gamers, myself included (to a certain extent), and have an opinion on what the Xbox One is/was/will be. Calling them wrong on their opinions is insane, childish, and useless. Opinions are like dirty socks. Everyone has some.

The always online requirement which will be disguised as "the power of the cloud," is bad enough in my opinion. In addition to that, Microsoft isn't a hardware manufacturer, which is something I learned after my fifth (counting replacements) 360 broke. Also pervnect.

I haven't read the whole thread so I might be repeating what others have said. I'm not interested in the Xbox 180 because of the priniciple. How was it not like steam?

Steam has to compete with other PC game distribution services, which is why it has to keep innovating and have huge discount sales.
Microsoft won't have the incentive to do the same with the Xbone, since they'll have the only digital distribution service on it. Steam has some great features, but without the huge discount sales, I don't think most of its users would even consider it (I know I wouldn't).

Also, looking at their history, it's safe to assume that anything you buy there won't be available when they release their next console (since "backwards compatibility is just backwards" - some Microsoft guy), unlike Steam which can run on any PC running Windows XP or newer.

Most of the things wrong with the NewBox are wrong with the industry as a whole, and with console gaming in particular.

Compared to the PS4 it doesn't seem so bad, compared to the WiiU it seems pretty frickin' sweet, but compared to my 3 year old laptop.... boo. BOOO. (Granted this machine did cost as much as a second hand car... and was made by Sony...)

Microsoft don't know how to treat consumers, so they have rammed anti consumer DRM up all in it. No backwards compatibility, Kinect spies on you, you need to pay to play online and it is $100 more then the PS4.
If you like games get a PC, you will be able to mod the games, expand the PC and play games decades old, how's that for backwards compatibility! On top of the GOG, steam and other online distributors are amazing.

Pretty much this. Also it comes with a more resource demanding OS than a PC according to rumours. That's a first.

I don't really have any issues with the Xbox One. I like the media features, sadly they won't be available here so that's not a point in its favour. I don't loathe the Kinect, but I don't want to use it and the voice recognition is the reason there's no known release date for it so also not a point in their favour.

I take an issue with Microsoft and their behaviour around the whole thing. They have insulted the consumers who would be troubled by internet connection, they have been very bad at explaining the details of the features other than the TV thing (which is only for USA for the moment) resulting in a lot of confusion. Was the family sharing a demo service or something more? Could you buy used? Could you borrow your friend's physical game?

Microsoft bothers me more than the Xbox One. The Xbox One simply doesn't have anything that interests me at the moment which is something that might change with time if the games appeal to me. However the fact that Microsoft is the one making money if I buy one will raise the bar for my decision to buy one.

The reason I hated it was that it wanted to force always online to play games and the Kinect. With the fact the NSA loves to spy on us foreigners and the knowledge that M$ is their best friend that's one personal issue, especially since it breaches privacy laws here. Secondly the requirement for always online means that when (not if, WHEN) they turn the servers off it would have killed my games, all of them, on the platform. I have every game I've ever bought from PS1 - today, never sold or destroyed any. So why would I waste good money on a PoS that one day will just stop working. It has no value.

And before you say steam I counter with 2 point:
1) It's PC, so we can patch the online requirements out, if it went down, ourselves.
2) I buy games for $30 or less (usually around $10) which as stated above is because digital has no value. I pay the value I see of digital especially digital that has that weakness, when I buy physical games I pay $50-$100 AUD. Very big difference because they have value and a far longer life.

Well firstly I don't work for Microsoft I am just a 13 year old gamer.
Secondly every time I have asked "what's wrong with it" the answers have been dumb like "spy box suks" and it "sucks because its not a ps4" I just want ONE valid reason so I know that Sony has not got any more "Sony-bots" patrolling the Internet

PS4 is looking to be both more powerful and cheaper than the XB1.

Of course, it was never about the hardware, it's about the games. Unfortunately, with the XB1 only being released in about 20 odd countries, it looks like there will be far more PS4 owners than XB1 owners, and where there are more gamers, there is more money, and therefore more game development.

1: the kinect doesn't spy on you it keeps the data stored on the xbox and not on any servers. Know what spy's on you? Your iPhone, computer and your get speed on everytime you go out in public where there are security cameras.

Out of curiosity, what voice control features where they demonstrating at PAX? I had only heard they were bringing a selection of games, were they also allowing players to navigate menus, or whatnot? I just asked because you use your example of seeing both as an explanation as to how the Xbox's voice controls are more accurate than PlayStation's. So I'm assuming you got the opportunity to use voice controls for both? Where they game specific, or general navigation?

Kinect was for general navigation and in some kinect able games.
Ps eye was only for in game use.

Also with my experience the kinect was much more accurate than the ps eye. I was pretty disappointed in the The ps eye. The kinect was easily about 6-8 times as accurate
And I am honestly not a fan on the 360 kinect but this new kinect is awesome
