We had ( <<< this word is important) a forest nearby. Sherwood forest, to be precise.

Someone also had the idea last year of taking a load of sand and piling it up in the middle of town to make a 'beach'.

EDIT: Just remembered, in the town where I go to school is the Talbot Hotel, where Mary Queen of Scots was kept before being executed.

My school also expelled Bruce Dickinson :D

I grew up in Poznań (Poland) and the most badass thing we ever did was an uprising against the Germans (after ww1). What's cool about is the fact that rest of the country was pretty much safe. BUT they decided "eh you know... There are probably more Germans in Poznań than there are Polish so lets just not give a f*** about this city".

And than we were like "Oh yeah?! WELL SCREW YOU! We'll do it ourself!" and we did an uprising that was actually ONLY successful uprising in the history of our nation. Well if that's not bad ass than I don't know what the hell is!

I believe my old town used to have the shortest paved street anywhere, as well as having some of the first paved streets in my state at least. Other than that... I don't think anything really good has come out of Ohio...

WAIT! Wright Brothers. All the liscense plates say "Birthplace of Aviation".
And now that my memory's jogging, it was my dad's college that made the first LCD.

Revenge of the Nerds was filmed at my hometown's University. I went there too, though not for that reason.

Well I grew up in Portland, Oregon. Matt Groening the creator of The Simpsons is from here and a lot of the characters are named after streets in Portland.
Respect. :D

We also have the second largest copper statue in the United States after the Statue of Liberty, but ours is totally better because she has a trident. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:portlandia.jpg]

Yeah, that's about all I've got. As a city, Portland's history isn't very badass.
I like Portland a lot, although I don't live there right now because I'm down in Corvallis at OSU, but its just a cool city.

Yeah, I know this isn't in Belfast itself, but remember when those two British army boyos bought it in Antrim last year? I was about 15 feet away, purely by chance. Horrible it was.
I actually live quite close to where that happened, though I wouldn't exactly class it as a cool or badass thing to happen.

It brought rocker, drug addict, and ass hole Pete Doherty into the world. For that we are truly ashamed.

We do have some really cool Guy Fawkes day celebrations, but apart from that nothing has really happened in our town for the many centuries since the border wars between Scotland and England.
