I think this is by far the best forum community I've been a part of and best source for news on things I actually care about. Nobody seems to really hate anybody and all is well but what's with all the bad blood between ZP lovers and everyone else?
The problem is to some of the members you aren't quite Aryan enough.

Well I'm new here and was eventually signed up because of Kung Fu Grip & ZP, I like the community here, there are some rather enjoyable threads here and good people, unlike other forums that I shan't mention.

The problem with Yahtzee is that he's brilliantly hilarious, but is basically ripping into every game because that's what pleases his dear little fanboys, rather than giving proper reviews (excluding his Psychonauts one).

People hate stuff that is popular. Just like some people hate iPods for no reason...
Haha iPod hate, honestly... Though I do favor an MP3 player over an iPod.

I don't hate ZP, in fact I enjoy watching it. I hate its fanboys, the ones who register only to lavish yes-men praise on Yahtzee, and who troll the other forums quoting lines from his reviews as a cheap, thought-free substitute for having their own opinions.

ZP fanboys are the reason that every single thread here on RPGs immediately devolves into a JRPG-bashing marathon.

ZP fanboys is the reason that every thread involving a Nintendo game devolves into an Nintendo-bashing marathon.

We aren't allowed to like things anymore, and we have ZP fanboys to thank for that.

Same here! I use WMP instead of iTunes so it's just too much hassle to care about iPods. I don't hate them though, they just aren't conveniant enough for me.

I think I agree with him a bit more than that :/ I'm not very amused by games unless I really, REALLY care about them.

Did you mean to quote my post without saying anything?

Or was it meant to be a "This." post? If so, thanks. :)

Yahtzee is the reason I joined this forum-- I rather enjoy his reviewing style :]. Would never have heard of the escapist if it wasn't for my friend linking me to his videos. I like it here, think I might stay a while haha.

I fail to see anything wrong with my title. :p
Is that sarcasm?

EDIT: I am asking because you have been on here a since October and it's a bit of an escapist joke.
I still genuinly don't see anything wrong with it but I'm not the 'Lord of all English'(although sometimes I like to think I am), sometimes I have to step off the high-throne for somebody more read. Explain the error of my ways.
I guess I didn't explain well enough. It is sort of an escapist joke to have "Why all the hate on...?" as a thread title, but now that I've explained it to you it is no longer funny.

The problem I have with Zero Punctuation is that the episodes are more crazy rants than they are actual reviews. He almost always totally rips apart games and hardly ever has anything good to say about them. I thought ZP was pretty clever when I saw the first two or three of them. Now that I've seen more of them, I don't find them all that interesting anymore.

Well Yahtzee is the whole reason i discovered the escapist. I came back every week to watch his new review, and was swayed to join the fourms thanks to all the interesting topics

Oh, darn. I was unaware of the inside joke :( Sorry I messed that up.

There are a lot of interesting topics here, I'm still really impressed that I stumbled across a forum not full of morons. I'm not saying that I'm a moron and don't belong here. I'm just saying the internet is generally deprived of well-read forum communities.

Well, if you hadn't noticed, some people on this site are a bit elitist, and anything that brings in more of the "Unwashed masses" is bad to them.
That's right, go and have a bath!

On topic, a lot of people who enjoy z.p. seem to agree with his opinions as well, no matter what he says. I find this incredibly annoying.

That's what I was getting at in my other post. Elitist or not, those people are right on some level, because for every person like me or... well, a lot of people who join because of ZP and are good, there's 10 people who only post on ZP videos, who bring in all kinds of memes we try to keep out (go to a ZP thread one time, see how many people get perma-banned for posting "First" and such), and are just generally a detriment to the site.

ZP also introduced me to this site, and the interesting questions and news that gets posted here on the forum made me register, i wouldn't say i'm an active part of this community but i pop in every now and then and post if i feel the need to.
I'd imagine the comedic rage in the ZP reviews attracts a fair amount of unsavory people to the site, but there are alot of intelligent jokes in there also where only 50% of viewers would get the joke without having to research it, i think this keeps a nice balance between smart and not so smart people.

I came here because of Zero Punctuation. I still find it to be one of the best things to grace the Internet, for one very important reason...

... that reason being that he constantly pushes the message that it is OKAY both to like and to dislike things, and that wanting more, better, faster and stronger isn't a sin. I don't agree with all of his decisions on games, but even where I disagree I can always say that I get his point, I see what he means. I've picked up a few "old" gems because of him (Psychonauts is hilarious and fun to play, and Braid is a very good game as well), and having a lot of the same tastes means if he "endorses" something I'm likely to look it up, due to his tendency to like things that I also like.

So, well. If you disagree with him, fine. If you agree with him, also fine. Unquestioning fanboyism is never attractive, no matter how you wear it, so saying you hate his reviews based on the existence of fanboyism then good for you, now go find something to like that doesn't have fanboys, we'll be here when you realize you can't. If you find Yahtzee to be unfunny, crude or anything like that, you are allowed to feel that way, and I recommend wholeheartedly that you not watch it. As for me, I'll keep watching it until it stops amusing me. Except for the Xmas clip-show, there hasn't been any real danger of that happening yet.

PS: whoever dreamed up that clip-show thing? Please, take three days to wallow in shame. I don't care who you are. If you are God made flesh who stepped down and decided to make that, I want to have words with you about the state of your work on the planet, but please, take a few days to wallow in shame and self-loathing for that boundlessly lame... THING first.

Like many of you, Zero Punctuation is what brought me to the Escapist, and it remains to this day one of my favorite weekly features. The problem, as it's been mentioned before, is that the series has a tendency to attract undesirables like bees to nectar.
