I'd say Bioshock but I don't think it'd get the treatment it deserves.

Yh Assassin's Creed would be very good, but a big budget Resistance fall of Man or GTA IV would be amazing to. (Resistance would kick ass in IMAX)
A GTA movie, but not based on any of the existing titles. I thought Crank came about as close to what I envision that should be as about any movie I've seen yet.
American McGee's Alice could really use a movie, and it may actually happen... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0466663/ but it's suffering from production woes, and Terry Gilliam could tell you what happens when production fucks up. Apparently McGee wants to make a Wizard of Oz trilogy as movies first, and then games based off of that.
Maaaaaaybe a C&C movie... but only if Kane from the games reprises his role.

But the 2 games that probably need movies made before their game sequels kill their respective franchises would have to be Zelda and Metroid.
Games that they should ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY NEVER make movies out of are fighting games. That shit is pathetic, man. Every one of them.
They're are so many fucking movies out there dedicated to fighting, there is really no need. Not to mention the vast majority of them are discount bin shit.

Agreed, Silent Hill is the only good video game-based movie I've ever seen. It didn't really scare me (SH is a much scarier place when you are the one who has to trek through it), but it did a good job with the story and it was structured like an SH game. I even appreciated Pyramid Head's presence, even though "BLATANT FAN SERVICE" should have been written on his great knife, since they didn't really explain what he was or why he was there.
If Hollywood figures out this whole video game thing, I'd like to see Jet Force Gemini, Resistance FoM, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, and maybe even Call of Duty 4 (although you could more or less get the CoD4 experience by putting all the Tom Clancy movies in a hat and pulling one out).

Well considering most movies made after games were half as bad as the game and Far Cry and Spyro are already about to come out I would say one game that would make a great movie would be (get ready for this)

I figured as long as there was drama and a good back story, that would make it into a good movie as long as anyone, but Uwe Boll was directing it.
I was also going to mention half life but they can't run it unless the final game gives away what Gordon sounds like.
