Not many have heard of this game: But Shadow of Memories. It's about a guy who gets murdered but he gets to travel back in time to prevent it.... it's really boring, trust me. The story line isn't all that bad - but boring graphics, boring voice-acting, boring mechanics... ugh, it was boring. No combat, just walking, walking, walking. One of a few games which would have been better has a film or a novel.

Universe at war.
Ever played that game? It seems to have succeeded in creating the stupidest slowest ai EVER! I managed to leave the pc on for half an hour during a skirmish and when I came back, I was still alive, in fact I had so much money the next 5 minutes was spent queing all my production facilitys to full.

If you ever buy this game heres a tip: go afk for an hour then come back for a nice max money cheat code.

One of the SaGa games for PS2... can't remember which one it was, but it was the most boring thing I've ever attempted to play.

Unreal.

Hours upon hours of wandering aimlessly in search of how to progress was tedious, to say the least.

Nintendogs. My friend has it, and I tried to play it. The fun lasted about 0.01 seconds. Then it just became torture.

Hotel Dusk. If they just livened up the pace a bit, it would have been a lot better, and if they let me actually play it from time to time, it would have been awesome. It's not a bad game at all, it's just so boring that it isn't fun.

World of Warcraft

i remember once, waiting for a login queue and then once i was in, i was running around, waiting for a zeppelin. then i was waiting for a group.

i fell asleep, woke up and no progress had been made. so i decided to spend time in a PvP arena and had to wait in another queue for a match to come up...

World of Warcraft bores me to tears. I can't imagine grinding to level 70, or even 40 for a mount. I lost interest after 20 levels. I know a lot of people claim the game doesn't start until you get to the highest level, but seriously fuck that noise. My leisure time is too constrained to invest in a game that feels like work for a hundred hours before the enjoyment begins.

Well I'm an RPG fanatic, and Final Fantasy 12 put me to sleep. Literally. First game ever to win that dubious honor.
Aye, this. Unfortunately. I'm a big Final Fantasy fan, but 12 was... not fun. I abandoned it around the Lhusu Mines and when I picked it up again (several months later) I just thought, nah. X-2 almost went the same way, only being saved by the fact that it was so off-the-wall.

Ironically it was Jedi Knight 2 the first time I played it...

The first few levels were incredibly boring with me never knowing where I was supposed to go, but once I got past that I found it was one of the best games I'd ever played.

I find most video games bore me quickly, but none takes the cake like World of Warcraft. It was fun while I discovered it, but the actual "playing" of the game was so bad I often stopped playing it and decided to work on something instead. Getting to level 70 was a painful grind. Even at level 70 there was so much "work" that the few fun things (which really do show up at level 70) just didn't make up for it.

Why so boring? Because there's no cohesive story. "Kill X of Y" is boring in and of itself, but pad a story on to it and I don't mind trudging through it to advance the story. Instead, you get a one page description of some generic problem (e.g., "My neighbour wants a fur coat, so kill me 10 mountain lions.") only to be followed by an additionally generic followup (e.g., "That's not enough; she wants a hat. Kill 20 birds and bring me feathers.") as well as a meaningless reward. The overarching story is lost in a sea of monotonous grinding, where each step is a painful reminder that accomplishing the next step will be just as meaningless. For the love of god, give me something to look forward to at least!

ironically, i found the solo portions to be the least boring. WoW had very well done set pieces that helped to flesh out the context of a mission in order to disguise the repetitous monotony.

at higher levels, missions required a collecton of stacked items... now that was boring. and when grouping requires the logistic foresight and planning of a Christian Pot-Luck, that's when that becomes boring.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Maybe it's becuase I'm not into comic books (and never was), but that has to be the worst one for me.

EVE Online. I know most players and fanboys will prance around calling it the ultimate PVP sandbox experience, but having been a part of one of the largest corporations in the game and getting to participate in "the good stuff" that most people supposedly never get to see due to spontaneous aneurysms during the 10-day trial, I've been out there and I know what it's like to have to play with your camera zoomed out to a tactical overlay and click on big red crosses.

Nothing quite says "boring" like a game where you can literally change a couple settings, point yourself in a direction, and hope to whatever god you think may care about spaceship combat that lag doesn't kill you before your missiles reach their target. Even the character building is boring; the "optimal" builds are pretty cookie-cutter, while the widely-acclaimed time-based skill training system that grants every character the ability to do "everything" in the game doesn't come into play until you've been playing for three or four years.
